  1. gotta love them old hippies, they got the best stories.
  2. So I trimmed up the edges a lil on the piece that goes on the back. I got my epoxy resin today and Im gonna try and get some sand soon then im gonna go to work on getting all that ugly black foamness taken care of. Idk if Im gonna put the second wall in, its starting to look like its gonna be a tight fit. Ill see once i get it all trimmed up and put in for the test fit if its actually gonna stay in or not.
  3. and thanks everyone for all the nice comments.
  4. thats all im going for is natural, i think CC or rubble might work, but im gonna go with sand for that "real" look. and if it works out right, I was thinking of doing it in my new 46 gallon bowfront
  5. This is the pond foam that i used got it from lowes And here is the foamed in overflow wall, Gotta recut my return hole lol got a lil foam happy
  6. Ok well, I got the pond foam and started working on filling in the gaps. This stuff really expands, it says 3 times the size of the bead you lay, well lets just say its more like 5-6 times. Anyways, I was planning on doing some cutting and shaping of the foam but it looks like ill be doing more trimming than i thought, It should be fully cured and dried tomorrow, still have the overflow wall to foam in but Im liking the way it looks, just gotta see it in your head with the sand over the foam, it should all blend really nice.
  7. I was tired of all the Rock\foam walls that had way to much foam, so i decided to makes sure these were more rock than foam, still got some work to do. but thanks for the kind words all
  8. what worked for me was a peppermint shrimp from Rockin reefs, that thing annihilated any and all aptasias i had
  9. Ok got all the rock zip tied to the eggcrate. here is the piece that will go along the back wall. here it is in the tank. and the piece that will go on the overflow wall. Tomorrow, i will go buy some pond foam and start filling in the cracks, then cut the zip ties and remove them. then comes the epoxy and the sand over the foam.
  10. Got me 15 pounds of dry rock from Dave and took a hammer to it. and heres what i have. gonna start zip tying it to the eggcrate now more pics later this evening.
  11. its been a work in progress for a while, Im trying to space it out so i dont rush and mess up lol
  12. you zip tie the dry rocks to eggcrate then fill in the spaces between the rock with pond foam, then you coat the foam in a 2 part epoxy to seal it and while thats wet sprinkle it with sand to cover the foam. its an idea I got from RC

  20. AOI=All In One. Its my own homemade biocube if you will lol
  21. As far as tanks go IMO its all preference. I plan on keeping a pair of ocellaris in my AOI 10 gallon that i constructed, as long as you keep up with cleaning and WC's you should be fine. And as far as lighting goes, I would just pick up a Coralife 150w clip on and stick that on whatever you end up with, Great little light, I love mine.
  22. kinda fell off this project for a bit. its still sittin on the back burner waiting for its moment in the sun.
