Well I want to be able to take micro pics as well as good pictures of fish. Through glass.
-
Well I moved to corpus, finished up my first semester of classes!
I now have running 30gallon half circle and my 15 gallon tall.
The 15 gallon has corals and two black clowns
The 30 gallon has two yellow prawn goby (pair), lawn mower blenny, and a pair of snowflakes.
Both tanks have corals.
I have also started up a reef club here in corpus called www.corpusreefclub.webs.com
If any one would like to join and add some input and help gather a flowing on the site it would be appreciated.

In people's opinion what is a good camera for taking pictures of corals and fish, that does not cost an extreme amount of money?
-
Yea I've been their once in the past 2 months and mainly just to see what the people and places around town are like, it's interesting.
Yea I'll look into Tropical fish Haven, I'll be working at the Petco their on Staples St.
-
I'll be their for the next four years, I'm going to study marine biology and engenaring. I will Defently keep my eye out for Gracilaria Tikavihae for you.

Thank you etannert I will have to look into the LFS tht you mentioned and see which one is the closest to the campus.
I'll post some of the corals that I have that are on the live rock, all the live rock I have are really big pices of rock, so I don't think that they will move to much in the 5g buckets that I just got.
-
Thanks Rob I'll look into MAAST, and see if I can pine the air bubblers.
Subsea I plan on taring down my tanks and than setting them back up the same day if possible.
Timfish that's a good idea I never thought of look at the pickle jars from BBQ places.
Thanks for all the in put. It's great. Now when I go down their I will have to find a place the has Conditioned water.

Hello to all. It's been a long time since I have been on here, but a new chapter in my life is a bout to start and I have a few questions to ask. I'm moveing to corpus in the next couple of weeks to go to college at texas A&M Corpus christi. I'm taking my two fish tanks with me one is a 20 gallon long and the other is a 15 gallon.
I'll be moving: live stock
Tank 1
• pair of true ocellaris clowns
•Mated pair of yellow watchmen gobies
•coral banded shrimp
Tank 2
•Pair of ocellaris clowns
•yellow watchmen goby
• algae blennie
•hawk fish
So my questions are:
What is the best way to move them from Buda to Corpus?
Are their any clubs in Corpus like their is in Austin?
Best way to move plate corals that attached to live rock, and anemones? ( Just place them in a bucket with a closed lid is what I was thinking.)
I'm sure I will come up with more soon.

The Petco in Kyle has 6 black ocellaris clowns, 4 are really young and two are a pair or becoming a pair. We have had them for around 2 - 3 weeks now.

Sand
in Reef Keeping
well I was planing on adding something to produce an algae bloom, but once its all in the tank I should not have any problem with algae.

Sand
in Reef Keeping
But I also don't want my girlfriend to have any issues with algae blooms. So I'm thinking getting a bucket and puting the sand in it and adding water and a pump to keep the water movie ing for like 2 weeks or so to build bacteria in the sand, any thoughts?

in Reef Keeping
Well I got my girlfriend a fish tank and she's honing to college so she can only have a 15 gallon fish tank, and I told her to pick out sand to put in the tank, and I want to be able to transfer the fish, rocks,as coral from her current fish tank to the new one but we want to use new sand.

Sand

Is their a way to cycle sand with out setting up a hole new tank?
-
Hahah when I first started reading this I was like wow, I had the same idea about 6 years ago and make a smaller version because I could not afford to build a large scale one. Best of luck to your tank build its an amazing tank, just have to make sure you can get flow too the drop off.
-
Yea I've got a 29 gallon biocube, but I have a jbj 36" fixture and want to be able to put it on a tank and a biocube won't with that kind of light it would look strage. So I'm going to go with a 20 gallon long and put my jbj lighting on that when I move, and move my corals and fish to the 20 gallon.
-
True.
-
Makes since. thanks for the idea.
-
Cool good luck with it. Starting off great!
-
What are you trying to mine in the reef? Gold? Iron Ore? Diamonds? Land Mines?
I would think that a biocube would be your best bet, but if history has taught us anything, you'll be home soon and back into your original tank, so why bother.
I'm not sure what your getting at.
-
Well as of right now I can keep my currents systems running, but in like 8 months I will have to tbrake down my systems. I have a jbj light that I really like that is 36" and great for corals do I could do a 36" long 15 gallon coustum build.
Bio - so your thinking I could make the tank bigger than I 15 gallon aka with nothing in the tank it being 15g but when I put rock and corals it comes out to be around 12 gallons of water so I could make it be like a 17 gallon tank and than add rock and it would be only 15 gallons?
-
Cool what kind of tank is it?
-
I'm going to have to down size to a smaller fish tank, soon I'm going to Texas A&M Corpis Cristi and they only alow 15 gallon fish tanks on campus, any one have a good recemandations on a 15 gallon tank that will alow me to grow any Corals I want and I want to be able to put two clowns, a shrimp and an anemone. So pritty much a mine reef.

Up date, the tank is doing great, after the cycle was done, I added a few things yesterday. I put the clown goby, the chalice and the blastos back into the tank, that added a few more coral frags.
Took a birds nest out of my other fish tank, added two more chalices one is brown but changing color to green, the other one is brown with some orange spots.I also added some zoas, tow are lime green, and one is highlighter yellow. I also got a acropora, and an encrusting kind of coral that is brown.( Hunter knows the name)

chalice, with some other coral on the top right side.

That's cool making a man made reef. Not really making a native tank their is not a lot of small fish, other than pipefish and sea horses. But their are a lot of bigger fish.
