  1. I need a good protien skimmer for my 90 gallon tank. I'm on a budget so show me what you have. Thanks.
  2. Hi everyone. I'm going to be buying new bulbs for my T5 fixture this week from BRS and was wanting some suggestions from those of you who run T5's regarding bulb type and combinations. It's a 7 bulb retro fit fixture. I'm currently running 2 aquablue 3 blue plus and 2 pinkish colored lights that I don't remember the name of. All bulbs are 54 watts. I'm also running a T12 super actinic light. I also bought 2 LED stunner strips for moon lighting I'm going to be adding soon. I'm not sure if I want to go with the same combination of lighting or something different. What do you guys suggest? I'm wanting to keep soft, LPS and SPS corals.

this is a nice piece. I got one from Dena a while back (thanks again) and it is doing great in my tank. Under the T5 lights it has done really well and I love the way it looks under the super actinic light.
  4. Trying to get me a nano wavebox when I sell this. Here are some more pics of the drilled tank. This was before the MH light was added. This is how the refugium fits under the stand. I also have the skimmer and return pump that I will through in as well.
  5. Cool. I'll try that. Maybe go down to 2 whites and 2 blues. Will cutting back on the lights cause hair alage?
  6. I'll cut back on light time. Maybe 3 or 4 hours a day. As for the rest of the corals, everything is doing fine. Should I cut back on time the light is no a day or number of lights on at the same time?
  7. My brother wanted me to ask you guys the question of how to dry live rock so that he can use it when he gets ready to set up his tank later down the road. He is getting a tank from another person today and it has live rock and everything. He doesnt have his tank set up yet and wants to save dry the rock out to use at a later time. How does he do this? Does he just leave it out in the sun then before he gets ready to use it boil it? Or does he boil it first then dry it out in the sun?
  8. So since I moved everything into my new 90 gallon tank, my green BTA's have not came out while the lights are on. Even when the lights are off they seem to hide under the rocks. One is all the way at the bottom under a rock edge and is touching the sand. Should I be worried about them not coming out? The 8 T5 lights that I am running now are a lot brighter then the 150 MH bulb they use to be under. I didnt know if I should move them around especially the one that is touching the sand. Please advise on what I should do if anything. Thanks everyone. Also here is a picture of the tank. I love it.
  9. I have my 29 gallon Biocube up for sell. It is about 2 years old and has been drilled and ready for a sump/refugium. I recently got a 90 gallon tank and no longer have the room or use for this tank. Tank comes with homemade stand, Current 150W MH fixture with blue and white LED's (I also have the original hood for the tank). Also comes with bulkhead, drain and return PVC lines. I already gave the refuigum to my brother so it doesnt come with the tank. Ill be cleaning everything up this week so it will be ready to go ASAP. Here is a picture of the tank before it was broken down. I am asking $250 for everything and buyer will need to pick up in New Braunfels. Thanks for looking.
  10. This was not on the link you provided. Thought it was cool. A 2010 photo provided by the U.S. Geological Survey shows 2- to-3-meter-tall orange colored, black coral trees (Leiopathes cf. glabberima) growing near Viosca Knoll in the Gulf of Mexico, which are among the oldest living organisms on Earth. For the first time, scientists have been able to validate the age of deep-sea black corals in the Gulf of Mexico. They found the Gulf is home to 2,000 year-old deep-sea black corals, many of which are only a few feet tall. These slow-growing, long-living animals thrive in very deep waters—300 meters (984 feet) and deeper—yet scientists say they are sensitive to what is happening in the surface ocean as well as on the sea floor. 11. Is it necessary to have LED lighting for night time use? I got my lights put together today. It's a t5 retro kit. It takes up all of the room in the canopy so I don't have any room for the LED lighting. I didn't know if it would hurt not to have any. What do you guys think?
  12. Cool I'll go just below the water line. Thanks.
  13. Thanks everyone. I'll drill it today about an inch below the water line.
  14. How do I keep the water from being sucked back into the refugium via the return line if the pump fails or the power goes out? I've read about drilling a hole on the top of the return line so that it breaks the sucken but will the water shoot out of there when the pump is on? Also I have a valve (not sure the name) that only allows the water to flow one way through it. Would this be a good thing to install?
  15. Is kilz a paint or varnish?
  16. I picked up the canopy to my new tank today and am interested in painting the inside part a white color. I want to do this to seal the wood as well as help with reflecting left over light. What type of paint would I use for this and were can I buy it?
  17. Tank has been sold to my brother. Thanks for looking
  18. So do I just keep a power head going in the container at all times. How about in the fresh water bucket? Do I have to keep a power head in it as well?
  19. Reduced again $100.00. Must have gone tomorrow 4/10/11.
  20. So how long can you store RO water and salt water? I see a lot of people with the brute trash cans full of water all of the time so I was wondering ifthe water goes bad. I need to make water for my up coming 90 gallon tank purchase so thought I would ask.
