  1. Well thanks to Mark I got my new Hannah phosphate meter today and I must say this thing is awesome. I am a little bummed though because I was hoping it would show that I had a phosphate problem so I could convince my wife we need a new BRS dual media reactor. Unfortunately it showed 0.00

Anyone know of any meters like this for the rest of the stuff I am supposed to be checking? I dont own a test kit and this is my first ever water test since the second week of owning my first tank last January.

  2. I have been looking at the SWC ... any feedback on it yet? Everything I have read about them has been very positive.

The Precision Marine Redline 150 that I am running on my 40g is just taking up too much space in the limited sump space that I have. It looks like the SWC packs a lot more power in a smaller footprint.

  3. I never really did much research on the t5 because I finally got my pendant where I liked it. I think I am just going to wait until it is time to buy a new mh bulb and then I will switch to a Diy led setup.

  4. Wow this anemone is huge today! I thought it was big yesterday but it really settled in and is massive today.

I am planning on adding some SPS across the top of my two arches but I have heard that anemones can move and sting SPS. Does it kill the SPS when it gets stung? Also is there a certain time period where if the anemone hasn't moved you can be pretty sure he is going to stay put? I know my BTA took 3-4 days to decide on a spot but after that he never moved for almost 6 months. Is the same true for this LTA?

    Thanks!!

  5. I have heard good things about their lights with the exception of the bulbs. I would probably look at a different setup because these really aren't that good of a deal when you figure in the price of a decent bulb.

  6. So this tank is just a few days past a month old and I figured it was time for some updated pics. I haven't really added much just yet as I like to take it slow and try to make sure I dont do something I am going to regret later.

    Here is a current FTS:

Here is the Firefish I picked up from shane at fishy business a few weeks ago. He is just now starting to come out of his hiding spot:

I just picked up this anemone and these clowns from aquadome this morning. I am not sure what kind of nem this is but the clowns love it. When I put the bags in the tank to float the clows were swimming against the side of the bag trying to get to the nem and then as soon as I unbagged them they went straight to it.

If someone could tell me what kind of nem and clowns these are I would appreciate it.

here is a shot of how I crammed a Precision Marine redline 150 into a 20g sump :) I know a skimmer rated for a 150 gallon tank might be overkill on a 40g but I like fish and I plan on "overstocking" this tank so I went big on the skimmer.

I also added a moderate clean up crew consisting of 10 nassarius snails, 10 nerite snails, 10 zigzag snails, and a few blue legs from my old tank. I also added some mangroves to the fuge but I dont know if they are in there right. Should they be more out of the water than this or will they grow like this?

  7. I have always used sugar sized aragonite and have really enjoyed it ... no real reason for the choice it was just what I bought when I first started this hobby and I have never switched. I have about half a bag left if you would like it you are more than welcome to have it. I am in pflugerville closed to 45/130 so I am prolly close to you in round rock.

  8. I had good luck putting the power heads about half way down the glass on each side and pointing them towards the front in an X pattern while they are angled towards the top of the tank. It is kinda hard to describe but I hope that makes since

  9. Make sure the line from your ATO pump to your tank/sump is secured in place. If it happens to fall out of your sump and lay behind your tank you can pump 10 gallons of RO water all over your very expensive hard wood floors in a matter of minutes doh.gif

  10. I do Paintless Dent Repair for money, and photography for fun. I make just about enough doing weddings and portraits to keep me in working equipment.

Offroadodge we need to talk. We were just talking today about coming to see you guys. Charlie Mills works with us and I think he is friends with the owner or manager there. Our company name is Texas Dent Works.

Charlie is also my brother :)
