  1. I have a Euro-Reef CS 8-1 skimmer BUT it is missing the collection cup. During a cleaning it took a tumble and broke. I still have the broken collection cup if someone wants to repair it but if not, you can always buy a new replacement from Euro-Reef.

It also has two Sedra 5000 pumps (one whole and another pump body / needlewheel with it just missing the venturi).

I'm looking to trade it for some coral. I'm interested in green and pink birdsnest and other fast growing SPS. Also interested in any zoo colonies that are colorful.

  2. I was going to place an order, but I am concerned about the BOGO special. I do not see any mention of it on the website now and when I enter a BOGO item in the cart there is nothing to indicate you are getting anything extra. The opening entries said this was available til midnite tonite but I wonder if that is still so. If it is not still in effect, unfortunatley I will not be interested, although I was thinking of ordering $15 or so. Can someone check on the status of the special for today?

    Thanks

    Bill

Bill, you're correct, it isn't listed on the website but if you look at his sponsor forum on/within ARC (at the bottom of the regular forum), he clearly states the BOGO details / special. Take a look at it and if you have any further concerns, email John at reefcleaners.org directly to get your questions answered.

  3. Question on the buy one get one free:

If I wanted a total of 10 cerith snail, do I place an order for 5 and the other 5 are implied? Or do I place an order for 10 and get 1/2 refunded?

I may be good for $10-$20 on this when I can get my question answered.

I would send all questions directly to www.reefcleaners.org. If I had to guess, you order what you would like and on top of that you will receive the buy one get one free offer. So if you purchase 5, then you will pay for five and during processing of your order you will receive 10 snails. In your case, go with option 1.

  5. As of now, I have my address setup for the ship to location (in BUDA), but it may still be a 2 day delivery location, but John at reefcleaners is checking on this for me. If that is the case, we may have an issue because I'm sure some individuals will order critters that require one day shipment.

That being the case, will also entertain offers from anyone that is home during the day to take delivery that is within a one day location. Most of Austin is one day.

If you're interested, please PM me your contact information and address and I will work to get it updated on the group order.

  6. Ok guys, here is the process:

In order to make life easier for those coordinating group buys, reefcleaners has developed a system for our orders.

    1. Basically go to the website and order items as if you were purchasing it.

    2. Once you checkout, because group buys are likely to qualify for free shipping, just tell your members to use the free shipping option "Group Buy". We will package all of their orders seperately, and mark them by the individuals name. So all you will have to do on pickup day is hand them the bags with their name on them. If for some reason your group buy does not qualify for free shipping, we will bill each of your members a pro-rata difference for the shipping costs. It will be based on total amounts of their orders.

    3. Note the club or organization of the group buy in the note field during checkout. For this group buy it is: ARC Group Buy

It is that simple. You will place the order yourself, pay yourself, note the above items, and then it will ship (plan to ship on Wednesday July 8th and order closes end of day Monday July 6th) to a single residence where we can arrange pickup.

Also don't forget your discount, straight from reefcleaners.org, "To get 15% off your order, simply use the discount code "austinreefclub" during checkout. Thanks for allowing us to be part of this active and growing community!"

On top of this, they're also offering a 4th of July special if you meet the below requirements:

Buy One Get One on some of our more popular species:

Florida ceriths - Buy one get one. (Limit 25)

Dwarf Ceriths - Buy one get one. (Limit 100)

Nassarius Snails - Buy one get one. (Limit 15)

Large Nerites - Buy one get one. (Limit 30)

Gracilaria - Buy One Get One

Mangroves - Buy one five pack, get two. (10 mangroves for $5).

Drum roll please:Discounts are allowed on top of this but The Sale ends on July 5th at 11:59pm EST. Payment must be processed at that time.

Once you order, please reply to this thread with your name and total. Also please PM me your email address so I can keep a tally and communicate updates to all that has joined the order.

  7. The only experience I have is with Reeflux 12k and 20k bulbs. I recently switched from the 12ks to 20ks and I'm much happier with the 20k. It is a crisp white color where the 12ks definitely had more of blue tint to it. I'm very happy with the 20ks and will continue to use them in the future.

  8. That is one issue. If critters that don't require express mail are ordered, it can be delivered to my house as it is in a 2 day location (Buda). If critters that require express mail (1 day) are ordered, then someone else within a one day delivery window will need to take delivery.

  9. Stephen,

No need to fear as www.reefcleaners.org makes it very easy for group orders. I will go ahead and initiate another one with them.

Once I get it setup, I will create another thread with the details. Basically you go online and shop as you would if you purchased by yourself. At checkout, you note the group buy name and denote the group buy shipping selection. It allows you to pay yourself and once closed, they will box up all the orders referencing the group buy and ship it. Very easy and no juggling of money.

Look for a new thread in the next 24 hours.

  10. I keep my Brute in the garage under my RO/DI. I mix the saltwater in the garage thus my issues with increased temperatures due to my closed garage. I use a Mag 9.5 for mixing and then for the water change attach 35ft of flexible tubing to the pump and fill up that way.

My water change consists of 45 gallons and once it is at the right temperature / salinity it takes about 15 minutes total to drain the sump / tank and then replace with the new water using the Mag 9.5. It took a few times to get an accurate reading of how much water I'm removing since I just drain it into my yard, but once that was established, it is a quick 15 minutes.

Before I used to do the same thing with putting a bucket next to the tank. In my case I had two 15 gallon buckets but I would have to lug 5 gallon buckets of RO / DI water to fill them up. My wife was never happy with two buckets sitting in the house, especially with a toddler dipping his hands into it! The process is much more manageable now with the RO/DI in the garage / Brute underneath it. With the float valve and auto shutoff, I always have 45 gallons available to re fill my top off or begin water change process. It was smooth sailing until a month or so ago when the temperatures were getting into the upper 90's in which case implemented the frozen bottles to manage temperature of the water change water.

OK so how do you get the water from the garage to the tank? I just put my Brute 40 in the living room by the tank for about 24 hours. It is not too intrusive I don't think but my wife still complains. I like to do it on Thursdays cause she is gone all day at work then off to Yoga class at night. That minimizes her exposure.

  11. I have the same trouble and this is my solution. It is similar to your bag idea but I kept having issues with pin holes or leaking from the seal. I now use juice or soda (2l) bottles that are more durable / heavy duty plastic and cap. I fill it up about 3/4 with water and then freeze it. I basically just pull them out, throw them into the mixing bucket (trashcan) the day I plan to do the water change. It brings the temperature down to where I can do a final check on salinity and then perform water change. By that time they're completely melted and just throw them back into the freezer for the next water change. You might try that.
