  1. PM sent yesterday with my number. give me a call to plan pickup. I would love a frag of zoas or palys if you have any to spare as I have now became addicted to them.
  2. Wish I could help you out with some acro frags. Thats an awsome fish. If you could meet me at my home in Belton I could give you a nice golfball sized piece of Pink Birdsnest to hopefully keep it fed and happy. I would really hate to hear about another one of those pretty fish being flushed down the toilet because it starved to death. I hope you get it to take some other foods, but you would proubly have better luck in keeping a Moorish Idol alive.
  3. I am looking into purchasing a wavemaker for my 55 gallon tank. I was wondering if there are any reefers on the site that use one on the same sized tank as mine. I dont really want huge surface movement, but am interested more on movement all around the tank water beneath the surface and around the rocks and corals. Is that possible? The three companies I am looking into are the Koralia, Tunze, and Vortec, but am open to suggestions for other types of units. Any helpful advice would be appreciated from those who actually have seen them at work, or have hands on experience with them. The easier to use and setup the better. Thanks in advance.
  4. Where are you located, and could you pm me your contact information. I am interested in the zoos. Thanks.
  5. Wish my camera was better. It works ok for a 6yr old camera.
  6. I found one aptasia growing one day planted in a hole in my live rock and it was pretty big . I took a quick inspection of my whole tank and found a total of eight others of smaller sizes. There may have been more but I did not feel like looking for them. At a MAAST meeting last year on refugiums it was mentioned that the peppermint shrimp do wonders for ridding tanks of aptasia. I decided to go that route. I figured 5 should do the job 10 gallons per shrimp. One was dead before I even got home. After acclimating I decided to just throw them in all at the same time and watched as the dead one was quickly found by a large sandshifting snail and drug underneath the sand. It was pretty cool to watch because of the speed at which a dead animal was found and became lunch. It was almost as if they saw it dropping, and if someone was to watch the tank for the first time they would think I fed them daily in that spot. Well the very next morning the large pest was nothing but a large hole. All the other pest have dissappeared also. I must say that I dont see the peppermint shrimp much because they tend to hide, but I do know at least one is still alive as I saw it crawling on the LR 3 nights ago. I was stoked to also see that my sexy shrimp was still alive as it dissappeared the first day I put it inside and have not seen it since untill the other night. My clown wont share his bubble tip anemone. Of the 4 total peppermint shrimp that survived the drive home from the LFS 2 were juviniles and the other 2 larger shrimp I assume to be adults. Hope this helps, and sorry to talk so much.
  7. Jaeger is also my recommendation, as my experience with them and Discus is remarkable. Back in the day I think they were called Ebo-Jaeger or something like that. They stayed at 80 degrees constant without fail forever and never burned out. Rock Solid. I dont run a heater anymore because I stopped with Discus, and my tank stays pretty steady with the heat without one. I still love Discus but good quality Asian Discus are hard to come by in my current place of residence. Also the eheim products are also recommended for use with freshwater. I dont run cannisters by eheim anymore due to switching to a marine tank, but those are my recommendations for pumps. I guess things have not changed much since the 90's with some companies.
  8. Hey Mike, I purchased some of your Candyapple pinks and they even had new babies. Then something liked them more than me and they shredded up the small bunch. I prayed the leftovers would by some miracle come back but was treated to one of my cleanup crew cleaning off the rest of the rock a few hours later. Everything else is doing great though. I was wanting to grab another frag from you again since they were my favorite zoos, but I see your now having an issue with them. Understandable since your system is huge. well I was wondering if I could swing buy to look for some type of replacement. My wife said I could buy a frag of something, but I am not really in the mood to drive down to Austin and was looking to see what the local guys had currently.
  9. Hey I am in the market for a sump setup and also an ATO setup. Also what is the brand and size of your water circulating pumps in the tank. Is there anyway I can see your system in action. I would also like to see your brain coral and anemone. I live in Belton. Please call me at 2544230889 if I am unable to answer please leave a message since work does not allow me to carry my cell.
  10. zoas and mushrooms are fairly easy and should do fine with your lights. Also different leather corals should be fine. Green Star Polps look nice swaying in the currents, but they grow fast. Also different Zenia are pretty but also can grow like weeds. I would say to not get any light loving animals like SPS, Clams, Anemonies, because I dont think you really dont have enough light. I am guessing that LPS should do ok if kept towards the middle or top, as I kept some under that amount of light for a good while. LPS are nice in that they can have nice colors, and some show different textures and movement within the tank. I also say get a couple powerheads to help with flow, as corals will do better with more flow than a HOB filter usully provides. I also advise some type of A&B additive to help.

    hi everyone

Well I am glad that someone told me to look up the Austin Reef Club. Its nice to see more doors open since the one marine specialty shop in Killeen has closed. I look forward to meeting some of you, and hopefully I can get my tank stocked and looking nice.
