  1. A little thing called a flood! JK well sorta... I'm glad you got it all figured out.
  2. Sorry I can't help you there. I have never trusted a siphon system. Just too much can fail, and in my past if it can....it will. The wife usually doesn't appreciate that either.
  3. From the pictures it kind of looks like your tank is not drilled and you are trying to make a siphon style overflow out of PVC. Am I correct with what I think I see? Can you take a pic from the side or back straight on so we can better see what is going on? If this is a siphon style overflow and a newly setup tank then my main recommendation would be two things. First, find out if your glass is tempered. If it is not the proceed on. Second, drain the tank and drill it. That will save a lot of headaches in the future. Drilling tanks is easy and only takes a small amount of time. You can install a small overflow box on the back that will never fail and look great. I wouldn't recommend the use of check valves to prevent overlows in your sump. They can and eventually will fail. All it takes is for a small piece of trash to hang up on the inside and not let the valve close. Instead you should install a sump that is large enough to hold enough water so if every fail safe failed you still would not end up with a wet floor. Also, I think you may have already done this, but just in case you haven't you can drill a small hole in the wet side of your return to create a siphon break. Just make sure you do it on the bottom of the pipe so you don't end up with a water jet shooting straight up out of the tank.
  4. I would definitely verify your CA readings before you changed anything. My CA Checker is very sporadic. I did three tests within 20 minutes and got three very different reading. Something like 415, 460, and 495. I followed te directions to the "T" and still didn't get consistent readings. I also tried several time via email and phone to get in contact with Hanna tech support, but have had no luck so far.
  5. Mind posting on here what you find out? I've often wondered, but haven't ever cared enough to call and find out.
  6. Regal plastics is the only place I know of
  7. Just got my new MP60 in! This thing is awesome! My little fishies don't know what to do with all the crazy flow.

    Cube Tanks

The Solana is a rimless cube. 34G measuring 20x20x20. I believe every LFS around here sells them.
  9. I need a few things as well.
  10. I have received a few PMs asking why I am selling this skimmer so here is the reason. I recently had the chance to pick up a Bubble King 180, and since I have always wanted to see if these skimmers can live up to the hype I jumped on the opportunity. It had nothing to do with the performance of the SWC. It was solely a curiosity about the Bubble king.
  11. Fourteen month old SWC Xtreme Mini Cone S Protein Skimmer. This has been a great skimmer and has produced all kinds of nasty gunk from my tank. Here is what SWC says about it: A 1 piece seamless conical protein skimmer. There are no seams on this cone body to leak. The ORIGINAL Xtreme protein skimmer! Comes with an Italian made Sicce PSK-2500 pump. An integrated removable bubble plate to help reduce turbulence within the protein skimmer. Extra-wide necks in the design to allow for more air flow. Wedge pipe output allows you to adjust the skimmer and have fine control of the water level. Custom pin wheel impeller as well as an optional mesh wheel impeller. Up to 34scfh of air pull using custom pin wheel impeller and up to 45scfh using mesh wheel impellers! These are real numbers not hyped numbers. Draws less than 25 watts of electricity per pump.Quick release neck on the collection cup - requires 1/2 inch of clearance to remove the cup. In sump skimmers only. Air results can vary depending on individuals’ aquarium setup. Recommended water depth 6-10 inches. RO Cartridge

Does anyone have or know where I can buy locally a 10" refillable RO/DI filter cartridge? I forgot to order one in an order and now really don't want to pay shipping....again.
  15. Sorry this took me so long. I had to leave town for a week an then have been a little busy. I am very disappointed to say that after three consecutive tests I am not very impressed with the accuracy. I just finished the three tests and got a variety of readings: 431, 408, and 481. I followed the directions to the "T", and still did not get good results. I'm going to be getting in contact with Hanna to see if they have any suggestions. I'll definitely post here what I find out.
  16. They are actually not too bad. It is the only one I have so I can't comment on how they compare to the regular stock. I paid $40 plus shipping. Mine is 15"x4" so it's pretty large too
  17. I just got my custom frag rack in from aqua-mags. I think it looks pretty good now, but it'll look a whole lot better when it's not white. It has 21 frag holes. As always forgive the crappy iPhone pics.
  18. I guess I need to check it out. I have only ran one test with the Hanna, and I compared it to my Elos test kit which I know I can trust. They both read 420. I'll let you know what I find out.
  19. Well my calcium checker finally arrived in the mail today. I was pretty excited to try it out since it is brand new to the market. I ran my first test today and then compared it to my Elos CA test. Both showed the CA as 420; so I suppose it's pretty accurate. I definitely like the checker better over my traditional style kits. Just thought I'd share in case anyone was thinging about ordering one.
  20. While we do have a good mobile version the tapatalk version is much easier and quicker to navigate.
