I know it's probably a stupid question but where is your salinity at? If it's off it can melt your starfish and they look like they've been eaten. I found out the hard way when I was just starting out.
I don't think it was mentioned earlier but wash rinse your shrimp before you feed it. To answer another question no it won't hurt a tank to go for three days with out light, think stormy days on the reef and no sunshine. My corals usually look better after a period of no light, they seem to perk up a bit.
Phosphates are cool I have too much ca+ Gabe did a few checks and we think that's it. So multiple water changes save money and then take the awesome Mr.Pettit up on his offer on the home made ca reactor
I need to figgure out what's up with my tank all my sps are bleaching and rtning on me. I have two that I'd love if someone would host in the interium, at least until I get my tank in check. LMK
I had to cut the grass (it's what this stuff looks like in the tank) anyone need some clippings? You can throw a frag my way if you want to but it's not neccessary LMK.
I did it all. Red slime, rowaphos in a media reactor, as little feeding as possible, water changes, shorten the photo period, you name it. It wasn't till I did the black op that the red devil was/is gone. Lights out!!!!
