  1. hey jason, it looks like you may have the same space constraints that Nate had. this is what we did for him. http://www.austinreefclub.com/forums/viewt...topic.php?t=325 drop me a line if you need some help or have questions robert
  2. yes, it will actually help the cycle. just scrub any noticeably dead organisms from the rock before adding it and plan on some partial water changes.
  3. i'll give the bass a go if you have one. i think the shells have some future value and will be traded for sponsor donated stuff like new cars and airfare to new zealand and stuff like that, so i try to talk a lot.................
  4. yep, either....poorly. i will practice. i have no callouses confused2.gif

    Welcome to ARC Steven blob7.gif
  7. you will be far better off with a 10gallon tank from petsmart or craigslist. or make it out of acrylic
  8. 1" from the bottom on the baffles will work. re: size of fuge. you can grow a lot of pods and chaeto in a small space. I find that my entire sump is a fuge full of crazy little critters. have you looked at Tunze Skimmers? http://www.marinedepot.com/md_viewItem.asp...dproduct=TZ5353 they are often forgotten but they work really well in small spaces, do not harm pods, and are quiet. if you do consider them read up well on them and oversize as suggested if you are running an sps tank.
  9. looks like a sound design. i too would reconsider the size of the return area unless you are planning auto topoff. you may need more area for future skimmers (9x14?). if you divided it into thirds you may satisfy all of these issues. acrylic will work for the low pressure design in a sump. move a and c down and b up for a stronger design.
  10. those are Red People Eaters. they floresce metallic red under actinics with green mouths. i will try to get a pic of your frag for you tonight.
  11. i will make some for you Denise. next weekend will be fine

    Hello!

    welcome to ARC Denise blob7.gif
  13. its in SA. really nice store. i have a healthy frag of red and green lords that i dont need.
  14. benny the blennie gets big like that every now and then. i think he drinks beer at night. maybe its gas.
  15. Ok, i am probably out of frags. thanks for all of the unexpected enthusiasm. Here are the results. Yellowroushe05 (sm.purple, sm.green) GKarshens (sm.purple, sm. green) IrishTexan(sm.purple) BigBird (Monti) CafeRacer ( don't know exactly what you want but i have a nice piece of the green zoas with fan worms in it - thought that might interest you) Mojo ( 1-2 blues, sm.purple, sm.green, monti) AustinVines (?blues, Med green) JohnG (4 blues) DHayden (2 blues) Dieselndixie (2-3 blues) Deangelove ( sm green, sm purple, and a green mushroom ) Please let me know if i got any of that wrong. for those who got the Blues, i have found them to (at least) double in population every month. I believe i told someone 1.5 times per month but after some additional guestimating i realized that was too conservative. I will contact everyone individually when the frags are healed. everything but the blues should be ready by monday. the blues may take a little longer.
  16. do you see an increase in area illuminated as well as intensity?
  17. you may simply cut them from the rock with a razor blade and them remount them on rubble, either by securing them loosely with a rubber band or catching them between some rubble in a low flow area. they will probably grow onto the rubble within a week. sometimes superglue gel will work but the shrooms will slime a lot and make glueing difficult. if you do this outside of the tank and wipe the slime off and dry the rock - apply glue to the shroom and the rock - and allow to dry before returning to the tank it will work half of the time. it is tough to control the mushrooms without isolating them on a rock that is seperate from the others. they may grow back from tissue left after they are cut away from the rock. if you dont want them to grow back them scrub the tissue off as best you can. good luck
  18. the fragging went well, and i have enough for everyone who contacted me and more. i will have time to contact everyone individually over the weekend and will send pics if you asked for them. the frags should be healed by monday, and ready for pick up anytime next week. thanks for all the interest.
