I am looking to purchase a chiller in the near future (I am tired of noisy fans) and I am curious about how often and how do you get them serviced? I am talking about recharging the freon, condensor coil service and replacement, so on and so on. Is this an issue with particular brands or is there a service agreement you can purchase with a chiller. Just something I considered before purchasing one of these little gems. Thanks for any help James D I am looking at a nano chiller made by JBJ in particular.

Starfire If my memory serves me correct I believe the book titled Aquarium Corals: Selection,Husbandry & Natural History by Eric H. Borneman is the one. I believe about 75% of the book is on Stony Corals. I hope this helps.

I have always owned acrylic tanks as well, can't beat the clarity!! I have always used the white pads designed for acrylic you can get at your LFS. Or you can use the white filter pad material that you buy in bulk. Just be sure never ever use a MAG FLOAT on an Acrylic tank EVER even if it says so (the Green plastic ones). I scratched the crap out of a brand new tank and MAG FLOAT wouldn't even listen to me when I called with the problem, case closed. You will need to clean acrylic tanks more often and be sure to keep sand out of your cleaning pad.

I have over $2200 invested and except for the Tunze pump and controller it is all just a year old. I am asking $1600 for the complete setup.

First of all I think that if you can invest in an actual return pump, you would be happier with the flow rate. I would recomend a quiet one or a mag. The first being inexpensive with low wattage power consumption. Also anywhere you can use y-tees instead of pvc tees would yield more flow. Any questions let me know James

I will be puting up some plans for assembling your own auto top-off for about $40 bucks and for building a Kaulk reactor. The two go great together for keeping your water parameters and calcium at optimum levels. James
