  1. I have a housing you can have. It has one input on one end and 2 on the other and a spin on top James
  2. The nano measures 20 inches wide 20 1/2 inches deep and 18 inches tall. The estimated capacity is 28 gallons. Just a little more info on the nano. James
  3. Nobody ? I will throw in 2 brand new Maxijet 900's for the cube's return pumps and still only $150. Thanks
  4. sent you a pm this morning on the info you requested James
  5. Hello I may have a tank you might be interested in. I custom built it from acrylic. It has a built in filter chamber in the back that is about 4 inches wide with a modular setup for the mechanical filter shelves. Also has a removable fug chamber and two big chambers on each side for a heater and a small protein skimmer. Also includes the plumbing for dual outputs just needs the lockline fittings. If you are interested I will throw in 2 Maxijet 900's I had planned on using as the return pumps. Please call me at 826-3569 and we can discuss further if you think it is something you might be interested in. Brand new I just decided to go a little bigger. I sent a couple of pics for you to look at. James D
  6. Just bringing this up again to see if there is any new interest. I know someone could use these. I will come down to $150 on the nano. I had had a couple of hits, but no bites. I have to hold up my end of the deal - no more new tanks till these are gone per wife. Please Help!! James Durant 512-826-3569
  7. I am looking for some suggestion on reactor media to use. What is good and what is not so good. I have been looking at some that Pacific Coast Imports puts out that they claim is the best to use because it is dead coral skeletons. Any thoughts would help Thanks
  8. I have almost always owned acrylic tanks. Yes they will scratch and yes they are a little tougher to clean. I always clean the inside with the white filter pad you can get in bulk at the LFS and as far a cleaning the outside I always used the plain white wash cloths you buy in a 12 pack at Walmart. Wet one for wiping the dirt and smudges off and another one dry for polishing the tank dry. The other drawback is if you are using MH lighting avoid placing the bulb directly over the braces, could soften the acrylic, just a precaution. Other than that you can't beat the clarity. I also lived in California for a while and that is all you can use in the earth quake areas because acrylic gives and won't shatter like glass. Just my input hope it helps.
  9. Joseph you should buy the nano since you liked it when I brought it to the house. It would look nice with your other collection of tanks. Or the other tank it is a great looking room divider setup. Any other takers? The dimensions on the Nano is 20" square and 18" tall my idea was to put a 150 MH over the top for a stony and clam tank. It also has 4 returns or 2 closed loops. The fug can come out as well and the filter area in the back is about 4" wide. The 50 gallon is 36"long 15" deep 20" tall
  10. Hello to All I am trying to set up a custom tank and the wife won't let me do it till I sell the other 2 tanks that I have. One is a 50 gallon acrylic with custom end overflow and 36" stand. Also includes a 12" tall canopy designed for MH lighting with fans. It also includes a sump with all the plumbing to hook it up. The other tank is a custom nano that I built but have decided to go another direction hince the new tank. I am asking at least $300 for the 50 gallon and the nano is brand new and is going for $180. Please let me know or call me if you are interested. James D 826-3569

  12. 10-4 I sent you a pm! James D
  13. I have a 125 skimmer for sale and it measures 24 inches tall from bottom to top of lid. If you are interested let me know I only used it for maybe a year or so. great shape. It only needs about a 1/4 of an inch to take off the collection cup for cleaning James D
  14. Hello to All Thanks James for the compliments on the cube. It is my prototype I kinda took the good and the bad of all the mass produced cubes and (I think) improved on them. I am planning on building another one to improve on my own design. I would love to bring it to the next meeting to show off my handywork. I wouldn't mind showing how to build an auto top-off as well or anything else I might have knowlege on. PS I wouldn't mind hosting the next meeting it's just that I live out past the airport. I would also have to talk to the wife.
  15. James I am down with some DIY stuff. In fact I have had great success with an auto top-off I built for around 20 bucks. I am currently putting together a custom nano cube that I assembled from the ground up - all acrylic. I would be glad to share with the club on some of these topics. I guess we will have to see what or if anyone is interested. If I have the ability to make something I usually do I enjoy the satisfaction. Here is a picture of the cube. James D
  16. Thanks I went to JBJ's and Current's web sites and got some service questions answered. I guess the only question I still have is charging them up with freon. Since they use 134, what is currently used in autos can you charge them up with the same gages and equipment or am I thinking too hard on this. I am also looking for pros and cons on the JBJ and Current "Nano" sized chillers. The models in particular are: Current's 2680 & 2635 JBJ's Nano & Mini All thoughts and comments welcome Thanks again James D
  17. I am looking to purchase a chiller in the near future (I am tired of noisy fans) and I am curious about how often and how do you get them serviced? I am talking about recharging the freon, condensor coil service and replacement, so on and so on. Is this an issue with particular brands or is there a service agreement you can purchase with a chiller. Just something I considered before purchasing one of these little gems. Thanks for any help James D I am looking at a nano chiller made by JBJ in particular.
  18. I hope it's not too late to RSVP. I am also picking up my wife from a trip will have to see if see comes in at 4 or 5 . I would at least like to come and see everyone if nothing else. James D
  19. Having to explain what is live rock and why there weren't any green plastic plants or neon colored gravel. Or having someone say wow that is awesome and then ask "Is this a saltwater tank" James D
  20. How about touching on the advantages and disadvantages of a calcium reactor verses kaulk dosing? Plus all the equipment for getting started and how to use it all to get the most out of your system? James D
  21. Mburton I sent you a pm and will let you know soon on some options James
  22. Are you interested in buying a new one? I can build you one at a very reasonable price. If you are interested let me know the dimensions and some details and I can get back with you. James D
  23. Starfire If my memory serves me correct I believe the book titled Aquarium Corals: Selection,Husbandry & Natural History by Eric H. Borneman is the one. I believe about 75% of the book is on Stony Corals. I hope this helps.
