I say you have enough wattage. I am no expert mind you. just about 400watts should be enough to support sps. Its not over the top by any means. I do agree that your bulb temps are a little high. Maybe balance the 20ks out with somehting in the 7k range. Just my .02. You dont go to LFS's and see 600 watts of lights over most of their sps tanks. Maybe you wont get much growth out of it but if you have the money to spend. Knock your self out.

I saw a real nice 140rr Oceanic at Austin Aquariums today. Pretty nice looking tank. A little high maybe though.

When I had that issue in my 20g i just did a bunch of water changes and stopped dosing anything.

The 3g evaporates about a pint a day at least . I have been doing 15% changes every week. i will try some of the compounds in there. The leather is doing great. Although I was having some thoughts about it deing in there Didnt realize it could prove a concern to the sps I have in there. So far so good. I was debating whether I should keep it though.

Just 1 Hermit (seems pretty useless too), 1 Nassarius, 1 Margarita, 1 Golden Banded. Some Anthelia, Xenia, some polyps. Got 26 watts of pc over it. Ill try the phosban or puagen. Think that will help with cyano?

Well my 20g has never looked better, things growing, color, etc.. However, .... my 3g looks horrible. I have a red slime, and hair problem. Measuring no phosphates, and 20 nitrates. That alone should not be enough to cuase this but.. I used the water and rock out of my established 20g. I never really had a cycle, although it has a 2" deep sand bed, maybe that is still maturing. I think it was been set up for 3 or 4 months now. I have cyno and hair alagae I have not been able to get rid of. Tried throwing a towel over it for a few days with the lights off, that helped a little with the hair, but it came back. Maybe i should use no "sponge" at all in the back of the tank. Only have 1 maragrita, and 1 small crab in there. They arent accomplishing much Any suggestions? I could blow it up and start over it is small enough. I had no alagae issues in my 20g ever.

I hear good things about the Coralife superskimmer for the money. In sump you could spend a lot of money on some really good ones, but.. I think you could get a SS for bout $100 if you look around.

I have battled that from time to time as well. How do you "top off" the tank each day? Kalk, Kalkwasser can be used to help top off the tank, keep your Calcium high, and buff up your PH. The ph out of my RO unit comes out pretty high with no Alk. Gues that is a good problem for me.

I bought the little 5 pound bag of "crete" as Home Depot. I kept it in water for 3 or 4 days, changing the water daily. I have not seen any PH spikes. Lord knows a high PH has not been my history in my tank. I will try to post some shots. I have very little coraline growing in my tank, so they are an ugly tan, hehe. Im still waiting for them to color up a little.

I have a 20" version. I am pretty impressed with the product. Lately is sounds like a jet engine when the HQI fires up, but. Other than that, I would say a quality product. I have replaced the bulbs though.

Yea my thought too on the holding, I asked Bruce what he thought, he didnt think I needed to worry about it. As far as PH this is on my 3g. not my 20g that i have been messin with the ph on. Heck the 3g is stable as heck, eheh. Go figure.
