I have some... About 7 heads. Needs to look if I can frag them
-
I have been doing biocubes, big reef tank, and now pico tank for about 4 or 5 years now... and I never stop to ask if you really need a heater. I was always told I need one so I always purchased one, but we had two heater incidents recently - one was stuck on and killed 5 cichlids in a freshwater tank and the other heater cracked and killed 3 saltwater fish in a biocube.... so i started thinking if you really need one?
I looked online at liveaquaria.com, and all the inverts, coral and fish said they required temperatures from 72 deg to 78 deg... I am run a 5 gal pico (cycling right now) without a heater and the temperature is 74 deg over night to 75 in the day as the ambient temperature stays the same... do you really need a heater? maybe in winter? but anything really require a temperature of 79 deg or 80 deg?

Completely off topic, but I found this contest.... Anyone with an account on 3reef.com, I would ask you to vote for number 28 please. ;o)

Anyone have an asterina infestation? I am interested in buying your starfish to see if i can generate a food source population for a Harley. Thanks.

When are you going to place the order? Are you looking to do priority or express mail? The reason I ask is that I might include items that cannot be shipped via priority mail. Let me know.
Also, I am at 183 and Oak Knoll so can meet you somewhere in the middle. Thanks.

Would be interested... Maybe about $30 worth. I would need them on Friday so ordering mid week would be better. Let me know what you decide to do. Where in north Austin are you?

+1 for Jake and the RCA crew!

I was in Australia for 3 months and Tye Stout took care of mine and did a great job.

I would say he is 2 1/2 inches... Had him for over a month... He was doing fine... No stringy anything. A couple of bumps on his snout but always had those. He is chased by the other pipefish then just finds a place in the rock and hides there.

Came home and one was still picking on the other... Have them separated right now. Not sure what to do with the other male.

Really? Oh no... I thought they would settle down in a hierarchy.

I had a Bluestripe Pipefish in my aquarium for a little over a month... thick and happy... I decided to get some more as they were an interesting addition and added a mated pair... after the acclimation process, I added the pair and the two males began fighting immediately. My wife was able to get it on video... they seem to be getting along now... meaning staying apart and giving the alpha the right away... interesting video:

I have an APC UPC on my tank just to power heater and MP10... I figure the least stuff on it the battery, the longer it would power it... they can do without lights for a while but definitely not heat and flow...
BTW... really regret putting my tank so close to a window... lessen learned...

I wish i had the kit to measure before and after... this is my second weekly dosing of it... i am hoping phosban does the trick... if so, i have half a bottle if you want to try and measure it.

I finally got a hold of a high sensitivity phosphate test... mine were at .06... that is after a TLC SAT treatment... just got a phosban reactor... i hope it gets me back done and helps color up some sps and gets rid of cyano and algae i have.

Welcome! I have always wanted to get a Seahorse tank... but never have pulled the trigger. )

I got them from Aquadome. So Brooks are you volunteering to help set up a new nano with seahorses and gobies? )

Despite the cryptic nature of the fish, I just had to buy one... They are amazing! However, I never understood how cryptic this little fish was... I saw my first one 2 weeks after a bought him then never again. Well I went and bought another one... Never to see him again... Then 2 months later I saw one! Moving in the rock... Growing and healthy! What an incredible sight and what an interesting fish. If I can only see them more often. Maybe I will get lucky again and have a sighting in March!

What do usually see as a result of high phosphate? I have an API kit that registers 0 but fight cyano, diatoms, and some alage. I switch to a bigger tank in May/June last year so the tank is still pretty new.

I had pep, cleaner, and fire in my 57G mix with several acans and have never had a problem... I think the pep gets enough food from my feedings not to be interested in them i guess...
