  1. alot of you have probably seen me trying to get rid of the pipe organ and monti on a few different occasions? :D

i have a few frags that are taking up space in my tank and thought ide put them up for trade. im not looking for alot of anything, but i cant take any LPS or SPS.

any zoanthids, palys, ricordeas, sun coral, or gorgonians are all welcome! im a huge fan of blue and red :) . and i have way too much purple and green. 4-5 zoas or 1-2 rics will take all.

i have a monti cap (from cmanning), a pipe organ (from greenmako), some GSP and a fist sized ball of cheato (both from river city aquatics).

everything is very healthy and has grown rapidly in my tank.

the GSP frag is pretty big, about the size of my finger. in the pic all the polyps are retracted because the coral is out of water. its neon green when expanded.

the piece to the right of the fish is the piece up for trade.

the monti cap is a fair size also, about 3" diameter. this piece is brownish orange because its been on the bottom of my tank for a while. i do have some of the exact same piece at the top of my tank that is pink under 48w of pc. when it was under MH's in cmannings tank it was purple, so if giving the proper lighting it should color right back up!

the pipe organ is a little smaller than a golf ball. in the pic the polyps are retracted because its out of water.

the cheato is that wierd yellow color because i have the refugium light pressed up against the glass right there. its the normall color everywhere else. im offering half of whats in the pic

like the title suggests, just make me an offer. ill be available sunday 12-6-08 all day or next weekend.

  2. im in the procces of training for the fire department and i was wondering if anybody has a wighted vest laying around that they'd be will let me borrow or sell to me for cheap?

i have a few corals i'd be willing to trade, just a small piece of purple monti cap (from cmanning) and a tubipora musica (from greenmako). id even be willing to part with some of my GSP. i could make up the difference in cash.

i only need it untill mid to late january so i can prepare for one of the upcoming test events that requires us to wear a 50lb vest.

i know its a long shot but i dont have $175.oo to buy even a used one.

    thanks. chris munn

  4. here's the purple monti. as you can tell its not purple right now. the reason for that is because its location in the tank only provides it lighting from a single 24w 10k pc bulb. i have some of the same stuff under that light plus a 24w actinic pc and its the right color, purple. thie peice is about 3" - 4" diameter.

and this is the pipe organ. its also under the same lighting. the size of the frag with polyps retracted is roughly half a golf ball? with polyps extended its about 1.5 golf balls.

feel free to ask any questions.

  5. i actually started dosing calcium, alkalinity and magnesium in the form of dt's 3 part when i started up my tank. i didnt do this because it needed it, but i did it to get a feel for how much product would affect the quantity of product in the water. i wanted to see how much of each product it would take to raise the amount of ca, alk or mg in the tanks water. it took a lot of testing as well. not only did that help me get a feeling for how much i wanted to dose daily, but the side benefit was great coralline coverage  .

i agree with the others about not needing the iodine, coral-vite and strontium\molybdenum. there's nothing in the tank that uses them right now, and your not testing for them. and if and when you do decide to use them, i would only use a fraction of what the bottles directions suggests. if you accidentally use too much of that stuff you could easily create huge problems and head aches!

i also agree with the others about either getting yourself an RO\DI unit, or buying RO water from somewhere. it makes a huge difference!

  6. i gotta say, this has been about the most un-climactic event ever! first it was supposed to reach us as a catagory 1 hurricane with the potential to flood parts of the area. now its 10 mph winds passing us by with NO rain at all! i wasnt looking forwards to anything damaging, but i did want some rain!

  7. its supposed to still be a tropical storm by the time it gets to us right? im guessing that in the worst case scenario, some of us might lose power for a few hours? at least i HOPE that would be the "worst case"! i personally have no active plan...
