  1. nice of you to hand off some coral to other memebrs and not trying to be a party pooper but whoever gets the corals please follow this advsie and QT for quite sometime...... I had a buddy receive some corals like this from a similar sounding tank in the past and he had VERY bad results. Had them in this tank about a week after he got them and it infested his tanks with some unknown pathogen that semi-nuked all his inverts. Just a fair warning that more than a dip and place in tank is necessary for this one, but of course good luck an thanks for helping out other members Chrismumm....

QT IS A MUST!!! i absolutley do not want to destroy anybodys tank! these corals have somehow survived RTN and STN, but like previously stated above, there's no telling what they might have?

  2. putting an end to my monstrosity. i havent changed water, dosed, tested, or even looked at my tank in over a year. when the return pump starts spitting bubbles into the tank i dump tap water in for top off. 90% of the livestock died ages ago and the tank has become over ridden with various types of macros.

by some miracle there are still a few corals left alive. there is a tyree tri-color, a.nana, blue trumpet, cyphastrea and galaxia. all are in poor health and need an extensive amount of acclimation into any tank. QT is a must.

if you think your up for the task of reviving these corals then they're all yours. you pick them up, bring your own transport vessle, i dont even wanna stick my hands into the tank. the a. nana is pretty well encrusted over a rock that i intend to keep, so its your job to get off as much as you can.

you'll probably have to pick them up after work sometime in the middle of the week unless we can work something else out?

unfortunalty my phone fell in the lake today so i can only be reached via pm on this forum. we'll figure something out...

  3. im getting ready to break down my pathetic little disgrace of a tank and i was wondering if anyone could bank a few of my corals (whats left alive of them) for me while i "re-structure" a few things? ive completely let the tank go and almost everything is dead now. there are a few peices still alive and ide like to salvage them if i can? couple LPS and SPS. a QT would deffinatly be in order, i have no bugs, but most of my SPS has been STNing for a while now.

it would probably be for a few months or more because i have quite a bit of rock cooking to do. let me know if your interested? im in manor...

  4. i've got some montipora capricornis thats starting to overgrow my tank so i need to thin it out.

right now in very close (8") proximity of a 25w pc actinic and a 150w halide its a faded pink color, but under a more subdued lighting arrangement, or being deeper in the tank its actually purple.

i have a frag about the size of two fingers or so, willing to trade for any size frag of any one type of SPS, or any one of a few select types of LPS.

not exactly a high demand coral but its heathly, if your interested just make me an offer... - chris.

  7. to make things easier you might be able to drain the tanks water into trash cans without removing any of the rocks. then lift one side of the tank stand high enough to get a furniture dolly under it, then do the same with the other side. move the tank into its temporary location then just put the water back in.

  8. im guessing your on a concrete slab foundation right? if the pipe is broken beneath the concrete your going to have to get a jack hammer and break up a small area of the slab to expose the pipe. you might be able to confirm the location of the leak by shutting off the main leading to your house. then using a towel, dry the suspected area ofthe leak. after the area is dry and you dont see any more water weeping through the concrete, have someone turn back on the water main while you stand there and watch the suspected area. if you see water coming back up through the foundation and there isnt any water leaking down the pipe from above, then it means the pipe is broken inside the foundation, in which case you'll need to break up the concrete. you want to be sure its coming from the floor before you break anything up though. its also possible that the pipe is leaking from above ground and dripping down the back side of the pipe where you cant see it only to end up on the floor where it loooks like its coming up from the foundation.

im not technically a plumber, but i'v done alot of this work before. if you want i might be able to stop by after work tomarrow and have a look to see if there is anything i can help you with? im hoping to get off by 4pm tomarrow but i cant gaurantee it. giveme a call if you want to set something up, ill pm you my number...

  9. Also that stein box is just awesome. None of the plans I saw on the net were nearly that slick. I think I am going to steal your plan there.

you got it! its pretty easy to build, let me know if you need any help with anything?

you'll get a kick out of this! i'v been wanting to add the actinic light back onto the tank to add to the MH thats on there now. i thought i could build a little shroud to cover the light and then find a way to mount it out of the way of the MH. after i got to thinking about, i figured the best plan of action would be to cut the front 1/4 off of the origional hood since it already fits the tank. then i could mount the actinic light inside of it and the light would end up in the tank instead of in my living room.

also, there would be plenty of room for the MH still. so thats exactly what i did. i ran the hood through my table saw and used some 1/8" acrylic to make some mounts. i mounted the light and i hijacked the origional wiring and ballast from the hood and put it all on a timer. it took about an hour.

  10. razor sharp i have like a million zillion quadrillion of those! they're harmless if your wondering? i think marc levenson id'd them for me once but i dont remember what they are? sorry.

  11. that tank in discount electronics must be new because i just recently (4-5 months ago) installed new countertops for thier laptop bar. i deffinatly would have noticed a massive salt tank!

there's an 800g inwall fish only tank at the top of the hilton condos downtown. i was working in the guys condo and he was telling my how it cost him a small fortune to set it up. it was full of giant plastic cup sponges and stuff. there's also a 150 softie tank in the room behind the reception desk in the hilton condos.

there's also a pretty big soft coral tank in the office building at the north west corner of spicwood springs and mopac. its a black granite building and you can just walk in there and check it out cause its on the ground floor mezanine. there's nobody there to stop you. the tanks probably 100-120 or something?

i also came across a really nice 100 in a plastic surgery office in the medical offices at lamar and medical pkwy. the guy has this really unique white leather thats "supposedly" supposed to be one of the last of its kind. he's donated a bunch of it to various public aquariums for efforts to keep it alive. the tank is another soft coral tank, but this one has the biggest shrooms ive ever seen! its really nice!

  12. the way mine is mounted is just by being such a tight fit. i built it with zero play in the opening so that its fits nice and snug. i actually had to cut a bit off the tanks frame to get it into place because when i built it i was still using the hood and needed all the room i could get! since there is like NO room under the stock hood it had to be ultra low profile. the housing height was built to fit the components exactly with no extra room. i didnt use the suggested method on RC of the electrical box or whatever it was. i built a custon acrylic box.

you cant really tell from this view but it doesnt go above the rim of the tank. its on the back left corner.
