  1. All, Katrina and I loved hosting the meeting and were very glad to meet everyone. We're looking forward to having a meeting in the Spring when we've moved to our new house. John & Brian - thank you for the excellent demo and not demo-ing my tank in the process. Also thank you for the frag donation. Carlos - once again thank you for the great prizes. One day I'm going to win one and my six year old will find a way to steal it from me. Joe
  2. I'd certainly buy a ticket for that!
  3. Seahorse - of course your sister can come. Irish - It'll start around 1, but I wouldn't expect much for at least 30 minutes while people show up and get re-aquainted. Based on the other meetings, it'll probably go until about 3:30 or 4. I guess it depends when the food runs out. All - If you have any problems finding the house, call us at 512-255-1264 for directions. Joe
  4. Sounds good to me. Can anyone think of anything I've forgotten? Joe
  5. Beer or adult beverages is fine. Depending on what you bring, the house may have to sample for quality control purposes. . . .
  6. I've already smoked up about 12 pounds of brisket for the meeting - I'll add some more smoke on Saturday. I'll also have bread, onion, etc Now I'm asking for anyone who can bring a few more refreshments. If you can bring something on the below list, please chime in. Cokes, Sprites, etc - probably 10 2liter total Chips - about 6 bags total Dips - not Freshwater or Lugols !!! Ice - 3 bags total Cookies or other dessert type food.
  7. irishtexan - you and your dad are more than welcome.
  8. So far the meeting is still on for Saturday the 30th at 1pm. I'll be cooking brisket all day next weekend for the meeting. (I'm not getting up at midnight to get 12 hours of smoking in before the meeting) A word of warning, my wife and I are going to be trying to sell our house, but we want to have the meeting anyway. If a miracle happens and the first person to see it wants it, then I'll have another meeting when my tank recovers from the move. On the other hand, if anyone is interested in a 4 bedroom two story house toothy9.gif
  9. What's today's clam picture? Inquiring minds want to know. Obviously I have too much time on my hands.
  10. If new members aren't invited, how do you think they become old members. Yes.
  11. Right now, my wife has agreed to let me host a meeting on Saturday, September 30. I'm thinking 1pm and I'll smoke some brisket weather permitting. Donations of drinks and chips would be very appreciated. Joe
  12. Welcome. Good to see more Aggies around here.
  13. If we can nail down a time, I should be able to host the next meeting. How's mid to late September sound? If everyone else can bring some drinks, I'll put some brisket on the smoker. Joe
  14. Agreed it was a great meeting. The fish are loving the food mixture. Drew, the highlight for my 6 year old reefer was the hotel. Sorry John, but the "bass-o-matic" just couldn't compete. Joe

    Question

When I'm starting to feel it's more work than fun I go vist other tanks. It's always helped me to get re-energized to see how someone else has arranged and stocked their tank. Should we arrange a tour of tanks in the various parts of Austin for the next two meetings? Joe
  16. I'm running 2x250 MH and 110 of actinics on a 140 that has about the same footprint of your 75 - same width, just taller and deeper. I keep all of my SPS in the top half of the tank and I haven't had any issues with keeping them.
  17. I probably don't measure half as much as I should. About the most I regularly test is calcium and alkalinity about once a week. If something looks off or something stays closed, I'll start measuring Nitrate, PH, and salinity.
  18. I'll take a bag as well. It sounds interesting.
  19. On the same subject, can we just declare Clint's tank the first tank of the month so the rest of us have a chance.
  20. That's an interesting idea. The winner hosts the next meeting. That way everyone gets to see the ToTM.
  21. I have that fear every day since all 4 our our kids love the tank and love to peer in. Now that I got a nano for our 6 year old's birthday I have to worry about 10 gallons of water running down the stairs. Joe
  22. Go ahead and adjust mine to 3 of the gel and 1 accel as well. Joe
  23. All I did when I needed to raise a skimmer was to go to Home Depot and picked up a drain cover for landscape drainage and just set the skimmer on that as a platform. It raised the skimmer level about 4 inches. Joe
  24. This is good to hear since I'm going to start a 12 gal soon for my son. Good suggestions on fish. Joe
