  1. Great water q? No, just a bad test kit. New kit says I'm at 20-30 NO3-. Going with weekly water changes for awhile. Really don't want to skim.

      Considering there are refractory and other compounds we can not test for, periodic water changes with new saltwater are recommended by all the scientists I've read. But I have seen nitrate issues corrected with water from an existing healthy tank that did not have nitrates. The one extreme example was just a few months ago with a friends holding tank which read >160 ppm. Twelve days after doing a ~15% water change with water from a reef system that had very little nitrate the readi...

      Sorry about the screwup :-(

      . . . readings dropped to 0.0 ppm. I wouldn't expect this to work with every high nitrate problem but it's worth a try.
