first question, is all the food gone after 10 min? if so then it is possible they could eat more. best way to figure out is to add a second cube. if there is a mess of food leftover after 10 or so min then you feed too much.

ive dont it. just be sure to take lots of pictures of the process. if something died i hear it can be a pain to get them to live up to thier live guarantee. lots of pictures prove it.

that sounds like a good idea. before they go into the tanks with all those wildcaught stuff. what species do yall carry and how much? and if i were to call ahead is it possible to have them stay in the bag to pick up? like arrange a time sort of deal?

you may want to think about what you are going to put in there. there was a healthy discussion that live rock is counter productive. yes they have all sorts of good stuff on it. but the cons brought up were 1. they also may carry all sorts of virus, bad bacteria, parasites etc 2. not very porus, not a ton of biological fitration capability 3. expensive 4. unwanted pest, worms, etc the pros being the biodiversity and huge cultures that boost a system as they spread. personaly i think like rock is really worth it. yes it comes with risk but personay i think its worth it. but also i peronally think its best to add lots of biomedia, like bioballs etc. like adding partitions in the sump that force water through a layer of material. but each thier own.

are there places in austin that sell seahorses. captive bred?

ok so i know they are not evil but i think they are a seahorese. i just put 3 seahorses from the hospital bucket back inot the tank. and i put four into the bucket and only 3 went into the tank. !?!?!?!?! 5 days and a pony disapears!?!?!? no body, no part, no flesh no nothing. it does not disove that fast. it had to of been eatern! but only the peppermint would do that. would they kill it too?? that seems hard to beieve it would get so hungry it would take down a largre animal.... anyone seen anything like this??

the bigger the better! the larger tank as a sump will increase your water volume that much more. the larger the water volume the better water quality you can keep. or at least it is easier to. not to mention you can do more with a 75. fit a lot mroe biomedia, cheato, mangroves, various macros, etc what do you plan to do with it? this is so exciting! sorry i love tank planning. probably why im not doing a decent job in chem class. shoo. have fun!

im looking for foam. like the soft foam that will roll out. im workin on a project. does anyone have any thats just stuffed away in the attic taking up space for no reason other than no one took the time to throw it out?

the few night dives ive done, its really really really dark. the light doesnt go for more than mabye 2 dozen feet, and that is in really clean water. but its really blue. i talked to the astrophysics professor on campus, he said most of the time 450-500 nm wavelength. he was not terribly apt to give too much instruction but what i understood from him was that the wavelength doesnt change that much as the real change will be in intensity. but i am sure there has to be more science to it. i am trying to get an internship with the national fish hatchery and there if i get the position i hope i will have access to people who ca answer such questions.

do we bring food for this? like a deal of cookies or somthin? is that inapropriate?

ideas for traps, ive used big nets or panty hose and throw in food. when they swim in scoop out. just takes a lot of paitence to wait for the fish. or with help get 2 or three people and egg on the fish into the net.

my ten gal seahorse paradise just cracked. but my dad just delivrered my extra 30 gal tanks i dont have other tens, so im not worried bout the rules, my babies come first... anyway, the tanks are a little dirty. just some dust. do i need to find a hose on campus or can i just wipe em down with a wet cloth and call it clean enough? its some dust from the old sand bed when it was a freshwater tank 6 months ago.

how long do these go for? just so i know how long i need to get off work.

i am a little confused about the forums. did they change? on the computer it stopped showing responsses under each post, instead it has a tree of links. and to read them instead of scrolling you have to click each post. did i do somthing funny to my computer or did the forums change format?

does that mean you dont want help moving it?

i have 2 xenia colonies that are not very happy. they are now in low flow areas and powerheads are not really an option, no cash. is there a safe way to peel them off the rock and relocate them? im trying to modify the spray bar with some tubing to get direct flow but so far it is not workin.
