  1. Powerheads have arrived. I'm currently out with my wife for her birthday however, and won't have them at the shop until tomorrow. Had to have family come over to wait on them for us. Give me a heads up when u would like to pick them up. Will be at the shop all week.

  2. Called the HUB in Belton, and he said he couldn't give me anymore info. Said the last truck left at 7am, so I should be good. Said all the weather has even messed up the tracking that would notify you 2 hours within delivery. Looks like I'm stuck home until package gets here. Glad its at least out for delivery.

Its my wife's bday today. She gets off at 4pm. Would like to spend time with her when she gets off. Depending on what time the shipment gets here, I might not be able to get these to everyone today.

Whenever I get the shipment, I'll update the post.

  3. Choose a party. Cleopatra's graduation party next door or Niko's Reef dipping/fragging party, or both like my wife....

    One has this.

    The other has this.

All the corals look like the handled themselves well at the party. Now they will be in QT for the next few weeks for further evaluation.

We have the tanks # and documented so we can keep up when these dipped and QT'd.

  5. Hopefully more updates to come today, but while I was taking a break, figured I post this.

This is one of the projects that we are working on at the shop. Just finished up with the leak test. Had a small leak in the plumbing that will need to fixed, and some old O-rings that needed to be replaced. Besides that, this bad boy is ready to go. I will need to learn how to run the profilux dosing as well. Got the connector that I needed for my computer to run the software, now just got to figure out the software. Haven't looked into it yet. Hopefully it won't be too complicated; if so, Clint has told me he would give me a hand. He was nice enough to help us out with the plumbing as well.

  6. Sorry for not sticking to my words with an update on the inside. Had an issue today with my tire that held me up for the most part of today. Was at the shop for less then a hour, and had something that needed to be taken care of immediately. Will try to get some pics this weekend, if time permits.

  7. Update for this. I called UPS today. It's showing it has arrived in Mesquite again. According to the person I talked to on the 11th, it never left Texas. Well, I guess that was incorrect. The person that I talked to today said it never made it to Mesquite due to the weather delay. Said he was showing some hub in Texas was where it was supposed to go, but got rerouted back to Cali. So, to be honest, I don't know what the heck is up. I've posted the tracking in a previous post. Keep an eye on it if you want. It's not on a truck today, so doesn't look like it will be coming in today. I would probably rule out this weekend as well. I would imagine these will be here at the 1st of next week.

  8. That's awesome. Please post an address and phone # so we know where we can reach you. Do you have an opening date set yet? Thanks.

I actually don't have a date in mind. I know worst case scenario will be 1st of Jan. I plan to have a grand opening date with BBQ and deals.

Yeah, I should have posted the store info on the 1st post of this build thread. Was pretty exhausted when I posted it. I'll enter that info on the 1st post.

  9. It looks great buddy! I'll be stopping by this weekend when the pumps come in.

Have you considered getting some of your initial livestock locally? Offering store credit or cash for frags, fish, live rock etc., would be a good way to start stocking the shelves. Generally, credit is given at 50% and cash is 25% of whatever you plan to sell that item for. Buying LR for $2 per pound would probably be pretty acceptable.

The petstore that I used to managed treated every FO tank with Meth Blue, but did not do a QT system. The tanks were treated on day 1 only and the medication was gradually removed during the bi-weekly water changes.

I updated the original thread on the powerheads. There was a weather delay in Texas that caused a delay on the pumps. I actually just got off the phone with UPS and have more info. Now if that info is correct, that remains to be seen. They gave me wrong info on the 11th.

Yeah, all of that will be available

Haven't found a supplier locally that meets my needs. I've tried many times. Any suggestions?

  10. Wow congrats! This makes it all so real now! :-)

Speaking of real. for those that followed the 440g, drop off tank build, mystery solved! NIKO bought it from the girlfriend! youll be able to see it at his store feel free to waste some hours of your life here >

Yes sir. Anyone wanting to see the Ninth wonder of the world, come check out Niko's Reef. Lol.

  11. this should be fun to watch.

Yeah, thought it would be kinda neat to do a build thread for the store. Never seen it done. I always liked following people's build threads, so I figured I'd give a few pics and updates here and there. Meant to start it earlier, but has been a little stressful and busy to this point. It won't be as detailed and as many updates as a regular build thread, but it will show some of the progress being made. There are a few tanks that I would like to show the status/build of. One was a SPS kingdom in its hay day.

Thought it be pretty cool to start a build thread for the store to show the progress. Had a few members stop by today and a few more walk-ins who saw the sign.

Felt pretty good hearing feedback. Starting to feel like an actual store. Still a ton of work to do, but everyday it feels like it's starting to get there.

Thinking about kicking off the ebay before the store actually opens. Don't have an actual date set yet for opening. Looking at 1st of Jan worst case scenario.

Will have a grand opening with BBQ and deals.

I'll start with the outside, and post some pics tomorrow of the inside. Will try to update the Facebook page ASAP as well.

Got to give a big shoot out to Chris(o0zarkawater). He designed the Niko's Reef logo. I think he did an amazing job. It's unique.

  13. I thought about Fishstreet. When I talked to them, it seemed like shipping cost and the amount of time would be an issue. The only way to speed up the shipping was to order a lot. Then it ships from Mexico. Seems like enough people are interested that maybe I could arrange another group buy with a different vendor until the supplier I used this time reups.

  14. Yeah, it's pretty annoying. I couldn't have it shipped to the shop, because there wasn't anyway for them to identify my unit. Now that I have the signs I asked to get it switch and they told me they didn't even know where it's getting shipped to. 0 information on it. They didn't even see the second package in their system until I gave them the other #. So guess I just have to try and guess when it will be here and make sure I'm there. No time window is available. Asked where the pickup was, and it's in Belton. Guess that's what free shipping gets you.
