  1. You start with 1 mL, if the reading on the syringe is 0.7 mL, then you used 0.3 mL. Read the chart based off of titrant used, in the example it would be 0.3 mL.
  2. Make sure on that Mg test that in the beginning that you are doing 5 drops of reagent a with 15 seconds of mixing between each drop. Also, you check the amount of titrant used, not the reading on the syringe.

Most pH probes are fully submersible.
  4. Your alk is probably a little low if you're keeping a bunch of sps. I wouldn't try to alter your ca of mg by diluting, your stock should take it up until the excess is gone. Just cease dosing and test every few days until it levels out. Ca is a little higher than ideal (might get some abiotic ca precipitate). As for Mg, I would double check your kit. You'd have to be dosing a pretty crazy amount to get up there. Are you using the Red Sea mg kit ?

this is the one I use. Very happy with it, no regrets.

Come to think of it, I have one as well for pH.
  7. what price point are you looking at?
  8. If his ambient CO2 is too high (house is too well sealed), more gas exchange is not necessarily a good thing.
  9. Before you start taking remedial action for pH, take readings throughout the day and confirm a reading with a different tester. It has been my experience that pH problems are just as likely to be measurement error than reality. Exceptions are for kalkwasser and CO2 reactors where pH problems are very possible.
  10. i think you have to unzip those pics before you try to upload them.
  11. After c.2, when the reacted bottle is inserted, push and hold for a 3 minute timer to let powder settle and bubbles dissipate.
  12. You're on the right track ! Make sure with that tester that you push and hold after C.2 for the three minute timer. Also, make sure that you totally dissolve the powder reagent. It's also important that you get all of the powder without your hands touching the interior of the packet where the powder touches. I like to do a 2 vial system where one vial is just unreacted water and the second vial has reacted water. Also keep those smudges off the outside of the vial. Simple right ?
  13. My rio that I use for water transfer kicks off a ton of heat. Just something to ponder in your calculus.
  14. I'd try to get it to as low-flow of a spot as you can find, and keep it a good 6" away from everything else if you can. I'd change carbon too, if it's been a while.
  15. Sounds like you've got it under control. Cool!
  16. If you had an accurate reading of 0.36, you would be probably be experiencing some pretty heinous algae right now. In light of the fact that your livestock looks well, it sounds to me more like a test with expired reagent than a nutrient issue. Try to make it to one of the stores and either buy a new test kit or have them test it. If you're ever south, I can test it for you if you drop off a sample.
  17. Mr. wonderful says there is nothing unique and proprietary. I could outsource that to china. In conclusion, lets make a deal with a royalty.
