Quick update. My acans are all back to looking healthy! I'm still siphoning out some patches of gha during my weekly water change. The foxface keeps most of the algae in check though. What a great utility fish he's been! Today I'll be removing all my macro and switching to a cryptic sump. That's what I had planned to do originally but ended up moving over my macro and a light from the old tank. Now I'll just have the light come on when I open the stand. I have an apex break out box that I need to figure out how to use. I also set up my bubble magus doser a few days ago and have been getting that all set up. It's so awesome to not have to dose alk every day!! I can't wait till it's dialed in. For now I'm testing alk every day.
I also got carbon running now in a reactor. Any idea what the flow should be through the reactor?
Slow and low. Contact time = success with carbon.

Looking forward to hearing more! (Oh, and they let you get away with saying you're a software nerd, but if you ever claim you're a software *engineer* I suggest you duck)

The primary driver here of what salts/supplements/testing regimes you use is, what do you want to keep in terms of corals? Some species are more demanding than others.

Welcome! Try a combo of evaporative cooling and a chiller for emergencies. It's worked well for me, although we keep the house at 68 instead of 82

Interested in apex salinity and refractometer.

You will have the healthiest, most disease free fish in central Texas. I smell a fish QT side business in your future...

I'd chip in to a kickstarted for that.

If you dont have an apex, I'd recommend the Bubble Magus BM-T01. It's got dosing computers built in which will help you get your dosing volumes set.

Man, that sucks about neptune not being more responsive. I have a power supply that works for it if you need to borrow it. There is also a super secret way to reset everything (not in the standard menus) via opening up the case and shorting some pins, but I can't find the documentation
