  4. 92g, glass needs some cleaning. Hard to tell from the pic but, with the exception of the branch on the left side, the rock work is a steep "hill" from bottom to top.
  5. I know this is about coral. but for fun here is a before and after (now) of my tank with the LEDs... Before After
  6. Here are some of the before/After pics that I could find the before pic of. I tried to size the pictures about the same as far as size/pixels go, but it's not perfect cuz in one shot I may have either had the camera zoomed differently, or I may have just been closer to the tank. Either way, I think this is pretty good growth. I do not and have never done any type of dosing (I expect I will in the future), I do about a 10% water change every 5 to 7 weeks, the plan is to do it every 4 weeks, but that has not happened. I think my most impressive turn around. When I got this frag it was not in good shape. It was added to my tank on 11/19/2012, the after pic was taken today. I have taken about 4 .5" frags from this coral, all unplanned. oops! SourApple Birds-nest added to my tank 12/1/2012 before pic was 12/11/13. After pic taken today (6/19/2013), I've cut about 5 1" frags from this coral so far. Few in the frag rack now. If you look at the frag plug you can get a good scale of the two, it has not changed. Electric Blue (I think) Digi added 1/3/2013, before pic taken 1/29/2013, After taken 6/19/2013. No frags yet, but cool how the epoxy has been completely covered by the coal. Purple Stylo, added 1/3/2013, before pic taken 1/29/2013, after taken 6/19/2013. Accidental frag of about .5" twice. I have two 36" BuildMyLED fixtures, one "standard" custom reef, the second a custom build based on super actinic with UV added along with some other slight changes. Awesome lights for the price, and after seeing these pics side by side, no questions they can grow SPS!!!!
  7. Well, for the most part my wife does not care, or even likes looking at the new stuff... but I do have a budget that I try to stick to, one that she knows very well, and on occasion I go over, as much as possible, she does not see that. BUT what she would not like, is then I go so far over budget that it eats into our weekly date night... those purchases I hide!
  8. Happy Easter everyone!

  9. Thanks for the offer, I ended up going with lights from BuildMyLED (l love the lights and the price), so I did not have to soldering anything this round, but always good to have a contact for an electrician in the hobby!
  10. Probably against most's better judgment the Potters angles was one of the first fish I put in my tank, along with the two clowns. That was on 12/1/2012 it's only been about two months. I've been told that the dwarf angles can be hard to keep, but so far this guy has been very easy. In the first two weeks his eating increased from very little to eating very well. At this point he and the yellow tang both race from side to side of the tank trying to eat ANY food that I feed, and all day long he cruises though the entire tank eating micro-algae of rock, walls, power heads, you name it. At one point I thought, based on how aggressive they went at the food that they were not getting enough food, so I did a test. I way over fed for three days, fed the tank 4 times a day my nominal once a day amount, there was NO "diminished effort" to eat. He is thick and healthy. My normal procedure is to feed once a day. and I feed a varying combination of frozen food (made by me, it includes garlic extract), spirulina 20 flack, and pellet foods. I know Mitch has a coral beauty, I think he said he lost the first one, but got a second, pretty small one and it is going strong, at least the last time I saw it. I got my potter's from AquaDome, at the time they had 3 or 4 of them, I'd look there if you want one.. You can even put your name on a list to be notified when they get one in. Best of luck!
  11. I was trying to take some pictures with my camera, mostly trying to get the white balance right, still don't have it, but figured I'd post some pics... These two are actually quite the buddies, or is it rather that the one does not want to miss out on any food that the other finds? they are both HUGE PIGS! Some GSP, growing like a weed! The Goby making a later morning appearance, checking if the coast is clear for his mate the tiger pistol shrimp (still need a shot of him). Paired Clowns, still have not decided to host in the Sherman RBTA waiting on them And the not so camera shy Angle... again.
  12. My 92 gallon tank (plus 30 gallon sump) goes through about 5 to 7 gallons water due to evaporation each week, and I currently keep a glass top on the display tank. If I removed it I assume that would increase a good bit. I have a 36" PC fixture and two 36" LED lights. I don't think the PC light contributes too much to the heat/evaporation. +1
  13. Been so busy with work that this is the first time in what seems like weeks to be on the site. What have I missed? :)

Let's see: a tank crashed, a tank was setup, someone posted a pic, Chris had a meltdown, someone sold something, someone bought something, and a sponsor posted a for sale item.

On Weds. night, I admitted to Oprah that I've been secretely dosing my tank.

LOL. Great, all but the news from Richard seems pretty normal! Richard I hope you feel bad about misleading all those people... but who am I kidding, what top... tanks don't dose, at least a little?

  14. Thanks for the comments, looking at the list it seems like I have a lot of stuff, but looking at the pics.... I NEED MORE! I'm waiting on (as in need to buy) more LED's from BuildMyLED. Right now I just have the one 36" BuildMyLED and one 36" PC fixture, there is a lot of viewing light, but I'll need/want to replace the PC fixture to get more intense light to grow coral better. The Birdsnest that I got form you has already grown a bit!
  15. It's been a while since I posted anything here, been having to much fun with the actual aquarium! So here are a few pics, sorry camera is not the best.... Full shot cropped a bit: from left side: Center shot: from right: Fish/Inverts that are in the tank: Tube Blenny - Benny (not really sure what kind he is, but he'd pretty small) Red Serpent Star - Not named 2 Paired Black & White Ocellaris Clownfish - Bonnie and Clyde Potter's Angelfish - Not named Yellow Tang - Dollar T 3 Banggai Cardinalfish - Not named. Two are currently MIA, so we'll see, maybe only 1 Yellow Watchman Goby paired with Tiger Pistol Shrimp - Not named, have not seen the shrimp for a couple days, but it was small so easy to miss. Coral banded Shrimp - Jacques Lots of snails and hermits Corals: Green Dragon Eye Zoa Nuclear Green Zoa Purple Death Palys Green Star Palyps Couple color variations of Frog Spawn Kenya Tree Xenia Sour Apple Birdsnest Balisto Fairy Dust Polyps Unknown Birdsnest Favia Lobophyllia Blue Sympodium Aliens Blood Rhodactis Mushroom Yellow Ring Rhodactis Mushroom Brownish/purple with blue spots mushroom (came one some live rock so no idea the real name) Chalice - not sure that kind was given to me Special thanks to KimP, she really set me up with a bunch of stuff! Very Very nice! Thanks you! Also big thanks to RUSH, and rchavez.
  16. I'd like to be 2nd in line for the powerheads please! PM Sent
  17. No not really. Just the two heads of the Rainbow Rhodactis. I think it was BIO that motioned he'd seen something like this due to the shroom getting damaged in shipping, maybe knocked against another rock etc. I don't know. I'm just very happy that I had the smaller head on the frag.
  18. There was some remnants that floated toward the back of the tank, behind a rock, so who knows it it will grow. The other smaller head is looking great. As for your other questions. It was a split purchase from AquaSD. Something had to have happened with this particular shroom because the other ones I have all look great, and Mitch (he has the other three from the order) has reported that they look great in his tank. I'm VERY thankful that the one that dies had two heads!! I have not idea what the lighting was, but I had my LED turned quite a bit down, and this seemed to happen overnight with the lights off. I only have a few pieces of "dry" rock in the tank. The rest is from others established tanks. But it was about three weeks before I added any livestock. No I have not tested alkalinity or calcium. At this point, all the shrooms in my tank look very good. I bought some rock from blindside that actually has about three small shrooms in addition to the one from this order and they all look great.
  19. My water levels all seem good, sg 1.023, ammonia and nitrite 0 ppm, >5.0 ppm nitrate. PH around 8.2. The one shroom did not make it, on the same frag there were two mushroom heads, and the bigger one was one that did basically melt. But the smaller one is actually looking good. I'm not sure. But the bigger one is now totally gone. The other two that were introduced to the tank at the same time are looked good as well
  20. It looks like the tissue has receded tho, not just closed up. The Alien Blood was completely closed last night but is now fully open. As is the Yellow Ring. The Rainbow (pictured above) is the only one showing this.
  21. So I put three mushrooms in my tank yesterday, and they looked awesome last night. Today when I started ramping up my light one of the three is not looking very good at all. The other two look great. I'm not sure if I need/can do anything to help this shroom. Here is a pic of it now: Here is the same pic but showing the outline where the mushroom tissue was: I was trying to post a video but the site is telling me "You aren't permitted to upload this kind of file" its an MP4 There is a mucus coming off the mushroom. There is a smaller mushroom right below it that seems to be going well, not sure if I should try to separate them or leave it on the rock. Just a few inches away is one of the other mushrooms I have that looks good: Any help, should I move it in the tank, out, leave it alone??? Thanks in advance for your help!
  22. Definitively might want to use the cheap tricks post, and use the "coral dip" to try and remove those crabs!!!!
  23. That's awesome, I look forward to seeing the progress!
  24. Figured I'd post a current pic, still have not built the canopy, that will be the next big project. Tank as of today: I want more Live Rock, may just get some "dead live rock" but need/want more rock. The heater is not going to stay in the tank, I'm just doing some work on my sump ATM so easier to fit in the tank, also the thermostat is temporary just to have a backup/test reading for the time being. The great news is that I have 0 PPM for Ammonia and Nitrite! Forgot to mention, lighting the tank right now is a 36" Power Compact fixture, and a 36" BuildMy LED light. The BuildMy LED light puts out some serious light!
