What next? How about we punch that hole in the wall? Knowing nothing of framing, I reached out to a good reef buddy who used to build houses when he was younger with the family. @schrisev volunteered a Saturday morning, a week before his own move, to help a totally clueless and sleep-deprived guy out. @gigem also came over to assist and we sent the wife upstairs and started cutting up my beautiful new house.

Viola... In-wall tank. @schrisev basically did everything while gig'em and I watched. I may have taken a nap or two. emoji42.png

The goal was to have a setup similar to this:

Fun start to the project, always better to put a hole in someone else's walls! :)  Let me know when you are ready to make it look pretty!

That looks great! I see you went with leveling feet. Are you worried at all about one of them being the single point of failure? I debated using them on my stand, but ultimately decided against it. Sure makes leveling easier!

  3. Just be careful, as you know aiptasia are fast spreading, I also heard that they can fly through the air and get into your display tank! I think it works like when dandelion get caught up in the wind and spread. I got this from a repeatable source!

  4. I was really just playing with the camara on my phone last night, but then decided I'll post a pic, It's been a LONG tine with no update. As stated in a different post I've struggled to keep SPS since I moved. I believe it was an issue with low Alk, I'm still in the process of validating that, but so far so good.

A rock flower anemone, I've had this for about 8 months:

This was toward the end of my light cycle for the day, so more blue and UV than green (white).

  5. Sure! I've been wondering if you upgraded already. Mine is super simple, just 2 holes in the bottom, the intake side has a 1.5" bulkhead and the output is 1" one. I went with a waveline dc variable speed pump and will use the apex to control it. For the output we're testing it using 3 nozzles. Right now there's a ton of flow but the design might change a bit depending on the aquascape etc. I think that's about it. I'm sure you know, but you can do more than 2 holes and do them on the back, or even like a hob type set up.

Thanks for the info, I was thinking about some sort of a device like Oceans Motion (http://www.oceansmotions.com/) it's a bit pricey and I don't know much about them, but I like the idea.

As far as my upgrading.... I really want to, I have some priorities & obligations ATM that are taking my "extra" funds. :)

    Keep up the great work!

  6. Looks great, can't wait to see the next video :). I'm really struggling about deciding to upgrade to a larger tank, and I love the idea of a closed loop system, can you share any details regarding how you are doing yours? I love the idea to minimize if not remove the need to have pumps/power heads in the tank.
