  1. Anyone have any experience with these beautiful little guys? I am considering setting up another nano and they are on my short list of cool tiny fish.

    Tiny medussa

My algae tank attached to my nano-reef is teeming with tiny jellyfish looking things today. I have never seen these things before. They are maybe a millimeter across. Their body is a clear sack and the rim of the sack has what I would guess are tiny tentacles. They move in a pulsating way like jellies. Anyone seen anything like this? I am guess they are medussa larvae. They are amazing and I would love to know what I have.
  3. Is Kingfish open for walkins?
  4. Pardon my ignorance, but do you need a special ballast for T5 or can one use a T12/T8 setup?
  5. Interesting. Which T5s are you using?

    Kenya trees

I am interested if you have any in the one inch range. I have some tiny coral I could trade or trade coral for $.
  7. Could you elaborate on the use of epsom salt? I am guess because it is MgCl2? How much do you add?

    DI water?

Is deinonized water good for making saltwater? I have always used RO, but my lab has DI water on tap. Anyone know if it is OK?

    Thanks

I had a very nice time at the frag swap. It was cool to be among so many other aquarists. I enjoyed showing my little tank to people. A very big thank you to whoever GAVE me several beautiful frags. They seem quite happy in my tank. I am sorry I forgot your name, but if you are reading this speak up so everyone knows how cool you are. Thanks to Ed for the algae, I set up a parallel 'fuge and it is great. There are many little stars in the algae, it fantastic. I would have paid for it and he also just gave it to me. I wish I had something to give in return. I didn't think about that my coral are a bit small for other people's tanks Also, thank you Carlos for hosting. I hope it was worth your while. Thank you for the nice discount I am loving my baby giant clam. He seems happy and I look forward to admiring him/her (are clams hemaphrodites?). I can't remember what species it is. Any way to tell?
  10. Can I bring my 2L tank with me? It will be easier to just bring the whole tank instead of bags. I will consider trading anything in the tank. I will also be bringing some a compact fixture I am not using for trade. Can't wait!
  11. Do you have bluelegs at Aquatek?
  12. Oooooh cherry pick. I'll probably take you up on that. Is your name actually Bob? I was at aquatek last week to get some equipment and I bought a little handful. I was quite happy with it. There is some great coraline on the pieces and some sponge and a nice feather duster. Anyone else? I am looking for as many sources as possible. More critters the better!
  13. I have a fuzzy green algae all over the rock in my 2L pico reef. Is there any kind of snail that would take care of it? I can't do hermits, the tank is seriously too small for them. They end up trampling the tiny coral.
  14. I would love to get a handful of some critter loaded live sand/rubble. If you have a very lively sandbed I would like to get a bit. I'll buy it or perhaps find something to trade. I am especially interested in sand from fish free tanks. This is for my 2L nano so a handful is plenty. Thanks!
  15. I would like to buy one, what's the smallest one you have? Any other frags?
  16. I can autoclave it for you.
  17. Notice I never used the plural. I prefer octopi but I know it's wrong so I just always use the singular. The short life span is a bummer. I hope to find captive reared octopuses so I know how old they are already. The new TFH has an article on keep nautileses. They live 15 years. Still I want an octo.
  18. I will of course seal the lid and add weights. Years ago I was talking to someone at the Texas State Aquarium in Corpus and they said they were lining the rim of the octo tanks with astroturf. Apparently they can't stand touching that stuff. Right now I don't have a place for it, but I am hoping to keep one in my lab (as a pet) once I am settled. I spend more time in the lab than home so I think it would OK here. I know it would be an attraction to all the other geeks.
  19. It won't be any time soon, but I really want to keep an octopus. I have done a lot of research on them. Anyone keeping one in Austin? My biggest concern is having a supply of food for them. What are you feeding and where have you been getting it? Also, did you get your octo in town, what species, would you buy another from that lfs etc. etc.
  20. I'm fairly interested. Any chance you'll be bringing them to the frag swap?

    Tunicates

I wish I could remember the name of that one. It is the most common tunicate to make its way into the trade.
  22. Oh can I get a frag of that Monti?

    Kosurini frag

I would like to buy a frag. Or would like to trade?
