  1. I'd love the clove polyps. Might have something to trade, I'll PM you in the morn.
  2. I have a small Orange Monti Cap frag I'd be willing to trade from some Paly's or other softie. My tank is pretty bare as its fairly new so trying to get more zoas, palys or something. I have a small 1"x1" frag, and a larger 2x2.5" size. PM me if your interested.
  3. Mark, thanks for hosting, it was my first meeting an was cool to meet everyone there. Its going to take me a while to put names to screen names to faces. It dawned on me after I left that I had been to Mark's place once before. A few years ago I bought a 24" CADLights T5 strip from him intending to set up my first reef tank. I finally did, but a like 2 years later. Thanks again Mark! -Orlando
  4. I plan to be there also, but only for an hour or so as I got a Halloween party thing I need to take my girls to. This will be my first fragswap/meeting. Look forward to meeting people and seeing stuff. And as quoted above, I'm too new to have anything to trade. Also, what should I bring if I'm gonna buy a few frags? A small ice chest? what else do I need? Again, I'm a total noob at all this. Thanks, Orlando
  5. I had a planted 2.5 gallon for a long time at my old office. I really like this one: http://showcase.aquatic-gardeners.org/2008.cgi?&op=showcase&category=0&vol=0&id=156 tank looks really large for a 9 gallon. Love the dimensions of this tank.
  6. Need to get a clean up crew for my newly cycled tank!

  7. Hello Everybody, I'm Orlando from Manor, been lurking these forums off and on for maybe 2 years now? I've been keeping freshwater tanks for several years and been wanting to take the plunge into reefs for a while. I even started gathering equipment, supplies, but then had second thoughts and didn't do it yet. This time, I decided to do it, and start small. I'll be starting a 5.5gallon or 10 gallon nano soon. I'm still unsure if I want to convert one of my existing tanks into reef, or just buy a new tank. If I do a 10g, I'll be using a 24" CAD Lights T5 4x14watt fixture, if I do a 5.5g, then I'll likely just use 2 of the coralife 50/50 screw type bulbs. I made a bunch of agrocrete way back when, so I'll be using that as my base rock and buy some live rock to seed it. I've got an Aquaclear 110 HOB filter I'll be modding into a fuge. I know going smaller is harder, but I only plan on keeping some softies and clean up crew, no fish. That being said, if anybody has some small quantaties of live rock rubble/small pieces they can part with, I'll be looking to buy soon. Thanks, Orlando
  8. I got them for the cool shells, but figured I'd see if anybody here was interested first. Oh well, cool shells it is.
  9. I snaped a few photos of them: That largest crab is about 3.5 to 4" from shell's tip to end.
  10. So I was celebrating the 4th in Galveston and while in the waters there were tons of hermit crabs all over the beach (in the water). I picked some up and put them in a bucket with sand and water and they seem to be doing fine so far. I never got my saltwater tank stared (recession problems) so I'm offering these guys up to any local reefers that want them. I live in Manor, about 7 miles east of I-35 off 290 east. I have 6 of these guys ranging for the large one just smaller than a tennis ball size ball size to 2 small ones at about the size of a 50 cent piece (including shells). Anyways, give me a call if your interested. Should be picked up today to ensure they stay healthy. Kinda doing this on a first come first serve, as I don't have a place to keep these other than this bucket. Orlando 297 - 4628
  11. I've seen these often at the "Austin City Wide Garage Sale" I have an old deco style 8mm projector and camera fully functioning, but I'm not looking to part with them. I got mine off ebay and they are pretty cheap. just my 2 cents.
  12. Big Clay, are Neon GSP the same as Metallic Green GSP ? I'm planning on getting some Green Star Polyps but I'm not sure exactly which ones yet.
  13. Hey Ifly.. 20L or 20G? I'm going 20 Gal and picked up a 150w CF fixture. Are you using a sump/fuge? If so, what size? I'm gonna put a 10g fuge in a custom stand i'm building and I'm trying to figure out which pump to use for the return. dontknow.gif Any suggestions are appreciated.
  14. Wow, I just looked that up and it seems pretty awesome. But I think I need to learn to drive before I get the porsche. Right now i'm just trying to figure out adequate lighting for my budget. I'll try and find sometihng around 100 watts give or take. As I said, I can always add another strip or something as I see fit. Thanks for the input guys.
  15. So I've made arrangements with Lee to get his 20g tank. I can say that I would be happy with a moderate amount of light and would be OK if that limited me from some specimens that required high lighting needs. I could always add to my lighting setup later if I feel the need. I'm pretty sure I want to get a CF setup, as I don't want to have to deal with heat issues associated with MH lights, and CF's seem to be a bit more affordable for me. I know CF's don't have the penetration but its only a 20g tank, so it doesn't have much to penetrate. I'm just not sure how much wattage would be appropriate for a "moderately lit 20g tank" Any suggestions are appreciated.
  16. Hello everybody, So I'm new here and this is my second post (1st was in the new to ARC section) I'm in the planning stage for a 10g Nano Reef Tank. I'm thinking of going with 10g because I have a spare tank laying around and I'm just getting my feet wet with the Reef Tanks. But I may do a 20, because a 10 is kinda small for displaying where I would keep it. My question is this: What lighting would be adequate for a 20g tank that wouldn't be too much for a 10? I'm considering the "Aqualight Deluxe Dual Compact Fluorescent 12" 2-18 watt 50/50" but I'm not sure it it is enough wattage? Also, I'm considering getting a "ZooMed PowerSweep 212" for circulation, anybody tried these? How do they workout for circulation? Thanks in advance
  17. Hello Everybody, I live in Manor (east of Austin) and am ready to take the plunge into Reef Tank keeping. I've kept a 30g freshwater tank for a few years, and now the reef is calling. I've been doing a lot of research and want to set up a 10 (or 20) gallon reef tank. I'll try and make the next meeting just so I can get as much info as I can. Nice to see Austin has a community of reefers!
