It looked new to me.

Impressive looking unit.

My kids have finally got their car situation straight so Dad gets the leftovers.

I'm left with a 1996 Blazer that needs transmission and A/C work.

Does anyone know a good, honest mechanic that can tell me what the car needs BEFORE I spend the money?

(Inexpensive would be nice too but I'm not using the word "cheap" since I've had "cheap" mechanical work done in the past and got exactly what I paid for).

I prefer not fixing the A/C and tranny only to find out the engine is on it's way out.

Please reply (or call me at 512-461-3120) if you can recommend anyone.

Your post says $500 for everything?

I know you need the money but that seems really cheap.

I hate to see you have to give it all away when you spent so much time and money "learning and aquiring".

Sell the live rock- 90#@ $3/lb. that's $270 (that's cheap especially for established rock)

Sell the sand- $30

I'm sure you can get close to $200 for the fish and coral

There's your $500 and you get to keep your tank and all your hardware (think about what it would cost to "redo").

"This too shall pass" and when the sky clears there'll be new fish out there waiting on you.

Here' the story...

My son bought this truck with the idea it wouldn't take much to fix up. Once he found out all it needed I became the new owner. So I currently have two trucks that don't run.

(All have clear titles)

Vehicle 1-

1986 Chevy 1500 Silverado pickup

The Good:

New 305 rebuilt engine installed (along with many new parts- radiator, water pump, etc.)

New rims and tires

New A/C system (converted from R22, cost $1,400)

New Headliner

The Bad:

Transmission needs to be rebuilt

Needs carb rebuilt

Surface rust (body is straight which is why it was bought in the first place)

Vehicle 2-

1996 Chevy Blazer

Needs A/C and transmission work.

Deal 1-

I'm looking for a mechanic willing to fix one vehicle in exchange for the other as payment.

("want-to-be" mechanics need not apply. I need to be left with a vehicle that is reliable with A/C)

Deal 2-

Take both vehicles in exchange for a reliable vehicle with A/C
