  1. This tank is absolutely stunning! Keep up the good work man!
  2. Seems like your seller is a stand up type of person. Rock on! Hope your duncan heals up nicely.
  3. Just make sure the superglue doesn't end up on any of the meaty portions. I'd also cordon the duncan away from any hermit crabs or shrimps (netting, tupperware container w/ holes). They might pick at the coral and cause more damage. Set it in an area with good lighting and feed it - hopefully it'll rebound from a not-so-great frag session.
  4. Get outta town... $45 is great for a neat hotel like that! That pic is pleasant distraction from the fact that I'm sitting here at work. Thanks for letting me use it!
  5. Very excellent pics - looks like a very beautiful place. I'm in awe of all the architecture they have there - way way different from the stuff 'round here... I loved this pic! Do you mind if I use it as desktop wallpaper?
  6. They're just laminated sheets of paper. Lots to choose from - I've seen mirror like ones, or the standard blue on 1 side/black on the other side. I use the blue & black backing, cause I can just flip the paper over if my tastes in background color change.
  7. PMed ya about my 30G setup.
  8. Horizon Pets 13497 Research Blvd., #700, Austin, TX 78750 (Corner of 183 & Anderson Mill Rd.) on the frontage. Really weird and quirky stuff in some of his tanks, but always worth a look.
  9. Nice catch with all the new corals. That Leopard wrasse is killer!

Nice comparison shot of how small the sexy is in relation to the mushroom!

    ARC salt

I'm also a TM user too. Love it since it dissolves quickly, no leftover salt chunks left at the bottom of the water like IO, very consistent numbers b/t mixes.
  12. First off, congrats on almost 1 year of ARC! How about a big group trip to the Sea World in SA and then on the way back, we can hit up all the SA LFS's? laughing7.gif
  13. Kalk paste seems to work wonders on some of the aip's I had. Melted them away linto nothing. Just make sure you don't use too much of it, especially if you have a small tank.
  14. I saw that thread (w/ pics) of his thumb after he got infected with vibrio(?) Holy crap, it was not pleasant looking at all. icon_pale.gif I try to wear gloves whenever working in the tank.
  15. Online & at lfs, these fish tend to run about $100+
  16. Ahh! Scratch what I said above... happy2.gif I get what you're saying - you're actually subtracting the wrong thing. Don't subtract the number of .01 drops you've used. After the color changes, flip the syringe so that the tip is at the top, look at the number the black ring stopper is at, and then use that number to subtract from 1. You said you used .19ml, so (1 - 0.19) * 500 = 405 ppm of calc
  17. Do you mean .19ml? or is it actually 1.9ml (go through all of the liquid in one of the thin syringes and then you have to refill it to get the color to change to blue?) If you have to drip more than that thin syringe, you might have too much calc in your system. I sometimes make the mistake of putting the decimal at the wrong place when calculating the math and it comes out with some funky numbers. Takes me a minute or so to figure out I'm doing the math wrong! tard.gif
  18. You might have more luck searching on http://www.petfinder.com/ or http://www.puppyfind.com/ for it. As always, be wary of backyard breeders and ask for references.
  19. I have a handful of xenia frags and some gsp, real neon green. I just fragged the gsp, so mother colony and frags are still closed up, but I can get a couple pics after they open up. I'm in cedar park, short drive from 1431.
  20. Did you do a quick rinse/cleaning of the inside of the skimmer before plugging it in? Usually, some oils in the skimmer will cause it to go crazy.
  21. I've had more success with the window screen method. With the hour reduction process, it's a dramatic jump from 1 HQI one day and the next, it's 2 HQIs just at a shorter time period.
  22. Yup, that's the stuff. You can buy a huge roll of that stuff at Home Depot/Lowes for around $5, if I remember correctly.
  23. Get a bunch of window screen mesh (4-5) and put it over your tank. Every other day, just remove a window screen. This will gradually acclimate your corals to the increased lighting.
