hi aquarist, do you know where to buy Weld-on solvent in Austin? I found it on line but charge me 20 dollars for shipping due to hazard.

I wonder about people's opinion about using filter sock for their sump, its require to have it or just aquarist's prefer? its help a lot? and there are beneficial? I did ask lfs and say not need and too much hassle to keep clean. I just need the aqaurist's feedback, I noticed there some left over from foods in sump. Maybe FIlter sock will trap and keep it clean? One question about carbon in the sump, I recall someone has mentioned about put the carbon in Phosban reaction, how much carbon in the reaction and how long it will be stay? GPH for pump the water in the Reaction? thanks

River city is the best store I have. Randy and Carlos are super, both of them are very friendly and helpful. the itself store is really neat and supplies that I need. I tend vist river every two friday or sunday when drop kid off at Cedar park. Only RCA that I depend on it. When my tank is complete finish with hood and sump then start to buy stuffs from RCA. Thanks, so I guess I have everything in order to ready for sump, so I will add one more baffle for return chamber, so there are 6 baffles and need some space for drain area for sock filter. 600 gph overflow, put in center of tank, so will desgin return pipes there will have two output in far end of tankl, add two seio 620 for flow. there will be increasing flow in the tank. maybe one maxjet 1200 in the center to flow the movement to center while two seio 620s will location on end of both of tank to flow the water. if anything come in up and i will ask your help.

currently I have 600 gph overflow, that will be fine? is that alright if I put overflow to far left of the tank where directly to drain area. or middle of the tank? The tank will be sps, so I was calculate 20x turnover, because of sps. that why I choose 1200 gph. interesting about that. eliminate sponges, use sock filter, sound great idea. i use Chem-pure carbon.

G' Day, I just upgraded from 55 gallon to bigger tank 75 gallon, I got 55 for a week but I saw 75 gallon and I bought it. I give 55 to friend. I have to throw the small sump 10 gallon from my pervious 37 gallon tank. Now I working on 20 long gallon sump for 75 gallon. I have question. I have desgin the sump during school hours, pardon my ms paint. I used to be working on AUTOCAD 2006 in school but no long reguired, I completed the requirement. I planned to get one more extra overflow 600 gph, will be two overflows, the will be located in far end of both side. There are total 1200 GPH, Two 1" pvc will connect to two overflow but there will be entrance to sump by one pipe or should be individual drain pipes from each overflow? I will buy PCI RPS 2000 Octopus Rec Skimmer (180 gallon ) in few week. will connect feeding pipe from Maxi Jet 1200, 290 GPH. The Maxijet 1200 will be location in drain area. There are best place for Octopus skimmer is outside of sump. I have uncertain about where the pvc from skimmer to center of sump or goes to drain area again? see the draw picture. I think the size of baffle should be 8 inch height and 2 inches space between of baffles? The Return area baffle should be 7 inches height? or 8 inches? The return pump will be Quiet One 6000? I currently had Quiet One 4000, but under the GPH than totals of two overflows' gph. The return pipe is 1/2 or 3/4 inch pipe? I supposed to tearing it down and transfer to bigger tank last weekend but my wife just hit with flu and I am her "male nurse" with thermostat and serving her soup and powerade. I do all myself work and I had sore my shoulder to bring pail of water to filling the tank in 15 times. The tank is held very well and pressure is good. I am doing drain the water tomorrow afternoon and get RO/DI filling 32 gallon of trashcan to get ready for big tank. I need your input about inverts, I had 15 inverts, 5 legs hermits and 10 snails (cerith, Astra). Can I put the inverts in 5 gallon container or pail and put air pump for two or three days? or not need to have air pump? or either way to put 50 + lbs live rock with invert in the container? give me a better idea. I believe that big tank will not ready in two days. take the time for water and salt to be stability and live rock then re-intro invert to tank.

I currently have 37 gallon tank with 50 + LR and 40 lbs LS and 10 snails also 5 hermits. I got a new tank today. I am tired of restrict and limit choice for my 37 gallon. Want to move to large tank. I haven't pick the tank yet because I don't have truck. I hopefully my friend will help me to pick the tank up by tomorrow or Sunday. Have question for this, how I can move rock and sand to big tank and also inverts? I don't want "new tank syndrome" with new tank. Do I have to running new tank for how long then added invert to tank? I am planning to tear it down this weekend and get ready for new tank. Planning to add more LR. I have Rubbermaid, so let it cured the rock then added to tank by the end of march will not causing any problem. about sump? currently running by 10 gallon sump, so I know there are need to be bigger sump so how about 20 long gallon tank for sump? These will be fine? 600 gph overflow and 1020 gph pump return what I have right now.

My wife just went to lfs and think about buy discount club for me. cost for a year is 19.95 or two years for 30.00. you can get 10 percent off for livestock. 20 percent for merchandised. Its worth for this club? but that LFS has a little poor condition or something? I wonder about that salt and water mix, how long it can leave it storage for time period? or waste it out? I think about get 25 gallon of water reserve tank for water from RO/DI to mix with salt to running mixing for long time in storage to easy to access to exchange water with salt. instead to filling RO/DI for a day then mix with salt for 24 hours then exchange in tank.. I am busy with school.. so want to have some water and salt in storage and leave it powerhead to running to mix the salt and water and heater. not recommend for long period?

No I do with refilled syringe with other 1.0 ml. that is what I mentioned. I do twice... 1.0 ml is out and still pink color then I refilled other 1.0 ml then starting with drop of each .01 then finally hit 90 drops equal of .90 ml that is pretty long dropping and counting. if too much calcium in my tank, I have no Coraline on wall of tank.. no wonder why my skimmer clogged can't get air. I have to take the pump and clean the air let to remove the white stuffs have developed in airtake and pump .. I have to clean the pump every 4 days...

How I missed the step, 2 ml of water in test tube 1 scoop of cal 01 (level scoop) 8 drop of cal 02 then swirl for few sec the color will be dark pink. use 1 ml syringe, fill syringe with cal 3, one drop equal .01 ml that is measure for one drop. one or two drops then swirl for a sec. count of drops when the color turn to clear blue (that is not exactly color is clear blue) 1 subtract of numbers of drop ( each drop = .01) then multiply 500 to get the ppm of calcium. what is else I do missed?

I got Salifret test kit today, I tested the calcium and Magnesium. I suspected that the level of both are way to low or undetectable. First batch of test with calcium and the color is too dark red/pink and test with cal 3 and unable to change the color until past 1.9 ml to finally change to blue or navy blue. the number is low. calculated is 0 same as magnesium, dark black when the start and way to dark blue or gray when its was 1.7 ml and the number is not on the list. so the calculated is 0 I using Ocean Pure and the tank is 4 month old.. PH is between 8.1 and 8.3 and the ALK is 8.96 both are test from Salifret. Sal is 1.026 change 10 gallon with fresh water and salt few days ago.

I just stare the tank every morning before going to classes. today my first time saw three white milky discharged from live rocks, different local of LR. I am not sure its "fertilizer" come from somewhat? its come from pores. also, I have counted there are 20 or 30 + bristle worms in my tank. from baby to 2.5 inches. need to removes or get 6 line wrasse fish to eat it? I not had invert or algae cleaner yet. plan to get one from river or other. I am not sure.

Ask your opinion about invert that I need for my reef tank. The parameter was good, all is 0 and the PH is between 8.0 to 8.3 but I ordered salifert test from Saltwater.com, there are calcium, Alk, PH and Magnesium, should be come in this week. check with Calcium for reef tank. not to hurry to get invert but maybe in 2 week when my paycheck is come. Scarlet crab, blue legs crab, nassarium snail, turbo snail, Mexico snail and cerith snail? what is quantity numbers of each? Tank is 37 gallon.

You mean I need to put the flow angle down to 25 degree? instead of 45 degree? and also try to flow toward to front of tank and other powerhead direct to center or go to rear of tank?

I decided to order two maxijet powerhead for the tank, I planned to added some SPS, LPS and coral for the tank. One is 1200 and one is 900. Those bulbs are good? I have 6500k and Actinic +, need two more bulbs. I think about to get super actinic blue and actinic 03, will look good on reef tank?

you use ato in the return area. my return area is lost some gallon of water. I will look it up for ato from ebay and other store. I am planning not to use it direct from Ro/DI. will buy 5 gallon jug and hole the bottom of jug with hose direct to ATO to Return area? will be fine? also one question for you.. about 10 % changes drain water from DT with hose and added new salt mix with RO/DI to skimmer to replace? how it process, This is my first time with sump, I did with dt but now with Sump. slow dripping or how much water will removed from DT?

any idea where I can install auto top off for my sump. I has lots of water evaporate. water level in DT and skimmer area has stable for few weeks but the return area has lose about 2 gallons every 2 or 3 days. I wonder that I should install auto top off in the return area? I already bought RO/DI unit.
