Hi y'all
I need a new canopy for reef tank. Its disintegrating.
Standard 1.5 foot by 4 foot canopy needed. Typically found on 75gallon and 90 gallon tanks (the difference is tank height so it doesn't affect canopy size. Please let me know what you have.
Thanks!

Here is the whole 75 gal tank so you can get some perspective on size. Nothing for sale is mounted and will require some patients when you stop by for removal. In fact, Please PM me with tips on how to best remove these from rocks if you have experience in this.
1) Massive 5 inch orange Yuma $150
2) Yellow Eyelash zoas $1 /polyp $25 minimum.
3) GSP Green Star Polyps I have 2 colonies of GSP that I plan to peel back. The color is really great and the grass is long. $25 for a healthy fist sized chunck of it. also have one softball sized GSP covered rock $50
4) Large Orange Rhodactis Mushroom- Two of the the ones I am selling are killing my hammer so the one of the edges is a tiny bit white but will heal fter you get it home.shown at top of this pic. $25 each .
$35 for the ones without damage (5 of these)
5) Purple pulsing Xenia - . selling some from the lower right hand side of the cluster.
I have five of them total . each trunk depending on size they will cost $25 for smallest, then $30 for the next size up, $35 for the next, $50 for a very large one , and $60 for the largerst.

OK so my Scarlet Hermit Crab arrived dead (out of shell).
Also a small percentage of snails (10%) are still laying about not moving, but I'm not ready to call them dead yet. Not bad considering the number of things i bought that did arrive ok. Overall, Im very satisfied with the order. On the plus side, it turns out they were not too many snails after all. On the down side, everything was considerably smaller than ii thought it would be. Hopefully, everything will grow up and it will all work out perfectly.
Those decorator crabs sound cool. if we get a followup order, I woud like my scarlet hermit replaced and i would like to add a decorator crab.
Thanks again for putting this together.

Hi all!. Cant wait for my order to arrive.
So, I'm trying to plan for acclimation and adding my new CUC to my tank. I started looking at the numbers and Im getting a bit nervous. I got the quick crew equivalent for my 75 Gal tank. So I'm about to add :
74 Dwarf Cerith
21 Nassarius Vibex
23 Florida Cerith
18 Nerite Snails (Small - Medium)
21 Assorted Hermits*
Thats 136 snails and 21 hermits to a 75gal tank. Does anyone think thats overkill? are the quick crews on reefcleaners properly sized? or should i split my order with someone? Anyone with previous quickcrew experience out there?
thanks,

Maybe I got it wrong but I always thought they were bad. I'm not trying to kill your sales but I think people need to research what they are putting in their tank before they pull the trigger.
http://www.nano-reef.com/invertebrates/?id=9
Class: Asteroidea
Order: Spinulosida
Asterina starfish, or more commonly known as Fiji starfish are generally dime sized or smaller with a large body, irregular arm length, and an irregular number of arms. They tend to hide among corals and in the crevices of the live rock during the day and can sometimes be seen clinging to the corners of the tank. This type of starfish has been shown to eat coralline algae and some corals; specifically acropora, xenia, green star polyps, zoanthids, and several types of soft leather corals. These starfish divide across the main body with two or three legs of varying lengths and multiply rapidly. Remove these starfish if they start to bother your corals.

Wow, I feel your pain C Lo.
I am certainly no expert, But this looks bit different than my hair algae which was darker green and shorter hair an came in little puffy ball clumps.
See second pic here:

Your stuff seems more of a neon green and much longer especially around your shrooms. I am sorry I cant say for sure what that is. Hopefully someone else here can help.
Allso, your sand bed seems clear of Red slime algae as well. Are you sure you have it? if so, do you have a pic of that?
I wouldnt wait for me to start on the TLC or startsmart dosing. I would start that now before more of your corals get choked out.
Good luck,

Thats a great start,
Please let me know when/ where i can pick them up. The sooner the better.

OK so there are lots of ways hit the GHA. But the one that worked for me and quickly was a sea hare. I kept him for a full week after I could no longer see any GHA in my tank. then i sold him because otherwise he'd die of starvation. YOu must have a dud this time. your last one cleared the tank right . see how good of a job mine did?
http://www.austinree...ats-hair-algae/
Now for the red slime cyanobacteria. got that myself right now. bought this stuff that worked but it came back 3 moths later
http://www.amazon.co...g/dp/B00025YRJS
to be fair, i only gave like a third of the reccomended dose and i only did it one time but some people claimed it killed their tank so i was scared
This time i am going to try some live active nitrifying bacteria reccomended to my by fishey business called startsmart complete. The same people that make that TLC product mentioned above in this thread.
http://www.startsmar...rtcomplete.html
Buy the sea hare now. i hear aquatek has some juicy ones right now. I will let you know how it goes with the smart start. i have a well established tank so i am only doing maintainance dosing which i was told will work in a month on the red slime.
-good luck

Disclaimer: yes after we clear up this mess we are going to have to keep our phosphates down and nitrates down and under control we wouldnt have these problems in the first place.

Sump with bypass to lower flow in refugium
in Do It Yourself
Posted · Edited by Mad Reefer
Hi,
I am building a tank with high flow that will result in even higher flow through the sump. I'd like to slow the flow through the refugium chamber of the sump. I have seen this accomplished by placing the return in a center chamber then split the return flow between the display tank and the refugium.
I have also seen this accomplished by splitting the return and running a lower flow through the refugium
Neither one of these works well for my application.
I wonder if anyone has seen it done another way and can direct me to any information on it?
One way I am considering is to provide a bulkhead on both entrance and exit of the refugium chamber with ball valve/PVC allowing control of the amount of water allowed to bypass the refugium thus slowing the flow through the refugium. Something like this image below if you can imagine adding PVC with a ball valve at the bottom of the refugium connecting the entrance to and exit from the refugium (shown in the below digram from left to right). When the valve is off it would be at maximum flow through the refugium. The more the valve is opened, the lower the flow that actually enters the refugium.
I might just build it to see if it works as expected. But I'd rather see if its been done before and how it worked out. Anyone seen this out there?
If you dont like the idea of running PVC through the refugium area , you could always run it out one side of the tank before the refugium and then back in by the return....
Thanks for reading!
