1. Does anyone have any extra, small pieces of eggcrate laying around? I really don't want to go buy a whole new sheet of it because I only need a little. I'm just trying to make a frag rack for some frags I made the other day. Thanks for looking. Also if you have another idea or way for me to make a frag rack, let me know!

  2. At least someone is normal! Another one is trying to host my Torch, and it's one of my two small ones, who paired up. He's been there for the last few hours according to my husband, (who yes, got told to stop touching the tank). The stupid clownfish is still trying to stay near the rock that will hold the Nori tonight, on the bottom of the tank.

  3. Lol, and I thought I did good by rinsing and scrubbing! When you say airline tube, you mean the tubing that is run on a bubbler? I know I have a new roll of the silicone tubing, I just never thought to use it for that. How did I miss your article? Oh, maybe cuz every time I read your blog, I click on links and find more stuff so it's like SW A.D.D. for me.

  4. I'm going to tie my husbands hands together so he can't feed this d*** tank anymore! He always thinks the fish are hungry and feeds them behind my back, and doesn't tell me until after I start do my night feeding on the tanks when he goes, "oh yea I threw some food in for them earlier...". Thankfully he only messes with the sw tank, not my freshwater ones.(doesn't find them as interesting.) I kept telling him he's feeding to much, and that is a big reason of what's causing the algae, ( i knew it was bad, but kept calling it a different name than Cyano). I noticed it really bad after I added some LR about a week and a half ago. I scrubbed them and rinsed them (in RO/DI) all before adding into my tank, but I guess not good enough. Could that have contributed some too?

  5. I don't get it. My clowns are just.. weird. I know that they can/will host anything, power heads, rocks, etc. But, mine....When I put in seaweed for the blenny, (no more tang :) she's in my friends 200 ) the bigger one shoves herself into it. The other clowns and the blenny, will nip away at it, the whole time, she stays in there hosting it. She stays in until its been eaten which is usually by the days end. After it's gone she goes back to swimming around, not interested in anything else.

Does anyone else have something like this to share? I will get the pictures of it posted here in a bit. Gotta find someone at work with an iPhone cable.

  6. NOT reef safe Julespinkyd. I don't know how long it takes them to start eating corals, but I wouldn't want to find out. Hunter at Aquadome offered to let me feed it to their Harlequins lol.

  7. It kinda just came with some stuff I picked up and I don't really want it. It's about 3 inches. I've never seen one eat until yesterday, when he found the rock I band my seaweed to, very weird to watch lol. Just looking for a frag or two for him or whatever. Thanks

  8. I'm pretty convinced it's a leather as well at this point. The base of it morphed over the weekend from a marble shape to an odd, oblong shape. The tentacles still come out though. I really like it now. I found some palys (sp?)growing underneath, 3 little heads, once the base of it shifted upwards. I think I am a BiPolar SW keeper though. Some days I absolutely hate my tank, while others, I like it.

  9. I tried the feeding advice again last night. When the mysis hit the tentacled they sucked inside the base. When they came back out, I touched it and it didn't stick to me, just sucked in where I touched.

  10.
Try feeding it some frozen food. If the food sticks to the tentacles, it is an anemone. If it doesn't then a good chance the tentacles will retract and it is a leather.
Maybe I did something right. When I fed last night, I gave mysis to the my condy anemone, which is an experiment. I turned all my stuff off, and it did its normal thing. But I guess since I was thinking this thing is a leather, I fed it Kent Phytoplex. It didn't really do anything but close its flowers, the tentacles stayed out. When I touched it, it doesn't stick to my finger like the condy does. I turned all the pumps back on and the flowers reopened a few minutes afterward. I don't want to throw anything out just yet, as I just got them on Wednesday, and for them to be open in MY tank, well that's a feat in itself. This is the first time something has gone right in my tank, and I hate to think it's just a nuisance. If it is, then I will get rid of it.
  11. This doesn't have a mouth at all. It looks just like the 2nd pic in my 2nd post, thats a way better picture. The base is round like that, marble shaped and when all the tentacles go in, its smooth and shiny. I got it at one of the stores here, and there's a bunch that look the same way for sale. The tentacles don't shrivel like an anemone, they just go in the base.

I think this is why I never ventured into FW planted tanks . Things I always thought were good, ended up being a PITA or a weed. Maybe I am just destined for keeping my clowns and nothing else, or maybe just live rock and my snail. sigh.

*at least I found three zoas on it.
