  1. Nice Clint, are those blastos? I had an almost identical morph in my 1st tank (a 30g cube, if you remember ;) ) but it died off after a few months and I haven't seen a similar colony since then. Hope this does well for you!

  2. $140 (goes for $271 + shipping on MarineDepot).

Suitable for aquariums up to 75 gallons (although personally I wouldn't use it on anything larger than 40 or 50g, depending on how heavily it's stocked).

I won't be needing mine any more, as I'm moving into a 450g tank and this would be woefully undersized!!

The skimmer is in perfect condition, used only for 6 months. It has been cleaned with muriatic acid and is ready to use.

Please send me a pm if interested.

    Mike

  3. That sounds like a great plan, Clint! Hey, I've got an idea - why don't you ship that stupid skimmer back from where it came, and pick yourself up a nice Red Sea Prism skimmer. The 'shrooms will love it!

  4. Yep, great meeting all around. Too bad I was distracted by my daughter (the little blonde one), I had to bring her along to give mom a break. As a result I only heard bits and pieces of the talk and I regret not hearing the rest.

Brian and Christina - Great to see the tank again, I love what you've done with the lighting and I'll need to come back again with the PAR meter to get some new readings. Thanks again for being wonderful hosts to the club, and for letting Sidney play with your pets.

chrismunn - Nice to meet you too, bro. Thank your wife and daughter for playing with Sidney, she had a blast.

Marc - Thanks for providing us with such a thorough discussion on sumps. You do so much for the hobby, and we are fortunate to have again been taught by you.

    James - You da man!

    - Mike

  5. Isn't that always the case, where our most prized corals tend to lag along while the others set an olympic pace? One of my favorite frags is a pink millepora with crazy blue and green highlights, and it's growing quite nicely. There's no photo of it here, as I didn't turn off the pumps and with the freakishly long polyps waving in the current it was difficult to focus. The duncans are indeed growing, albeit slowly. These pics don't show the extra heads that have developed, and the angle doesn't show the increased height either.

    Here is was in November.

  6. Here's the Hawaiian flame wrasse. See if you can find him in these photos.

This is the achilles tang. Don't worry about the spots you see, that's stuff blowing around the tank as I did not turn off pumps for any of these photos. There is absolutely no ich and he's gaining weight nicely. His color is as black as black can be.

Here's the full tank, all lights on.

Beneath the toadstool you can see a new gorgonian.

In the background is the Leng Sy cap, looking mighty fine.

I got this acro frag from Austin Aqua Farms a while ago. Here it was on 1/13/08

4/20/08, sorry, different angle, but the same angle is above with the gorgonian.

  8. I mentioned I've had some improved coloration recently. Here's what I mean. There's also been some growth, it seems :) .

  9. I picked up some frags yesterday from my office tank. Most of them will be shown in the following photos. I mounted most onto KZ frag plugs, which attach to weighted bases. They can be moved around the tank safely and without being blown around until a 'happy' spot is found, then the tops simply pull off of the bases for permanent mounting.

Here's a full tank shot, actinics only. I need to scrape the coralline off of the back.

And while we're in actinic mode, here is a cluster of new frags.

Lights all on. This ricordea is in my avatar and is the 2nd coral I ever purchased some 3 years ago. It only recently became happy in my tank since the change from the 30g cube.

  10. Great photos Gabriel, I can't wait to see everyone elses as there were photographers in force at the meeting. It was a great time, and I think I had a chance to talk with everyone there individually. We've got some cool people in our club! It was an honor to co-host this meeting with the Kingfish guys, and I look forward to seeing everyone again at future meetings. We'll have to do it again at the office in a year like you said, James. I'll see what I can do to make the parking more convenient next time - sorry about that!

    Mike

  11. Andrew, I got the reminder email, so I guess it's working. Looks like it will be a small crowd at the meeting though :D .

princer7 - Glad the operation went well, let me know about it when we meet on Saturday.

    Mike

  12. Here's a slight correction, but important. The tank is NOT in the Dell Children's Medical Center. It's in the medical office building adjacent to the hospital, called Strictly Pediatrics. The address is 1301 Barbara Jordan Blvd., and my office is Suite 400. The hospital doors never lock ;) but the office building is secured over the weekend, which is why it won't be possible to keep the doors open. There is a covered parking garage sandwiched in between the hospital and the office building, and it's free on the weekend, so park in there. Nobody else will be around, so it will be easy for us to all find each other at the parking garage between the times James announced. Sorry for the somewhat rigid start time and lack of flexibility, but there's really no way to work around that. I'm looking forward to seeing everybody there!

    Mike
