The intensity of the light (par value) drops. I would say at 4-6 months they are around 70% compared to new. I prefer to replace mine at 4-5 months.

+1 reefgee.....I thought it was aquacave.....but my last order was with ReefGeek.
the reason we like ATI bulbs, or Giesmann is the high PAR value. robb in Austin's link provides you all the info you need and more
-
My last order was from Aquacave. They packed it extremely well. I buy ATI bulbs and may try marine depot this time around as I also need a few other things.
No experience with wavepoint. I use Aquaticlife and so far so good...

How long had your new saltwater been mixing/agitated? If it had been sitting stagnant for very long the oxygen content could have been low enough that when you did the change it in effect suffocated the fish. What kind of salt and how long have you used that brand? How big is your tank and how big was the water change?+1 good call E. I agitate the fresh for a day before mixing....I guess I'll continue to do so

sweet....coming along nicely

yes, you can just add the alk part

In theory, if you get another one of the same species, but smaller than the existing one, the existing one will change to female and assume alpha status.
