  1. I'm glad so many people can make it, even some driving in from as far away as El Paso. He must have heard all the rumors of how awesome our meetings are!

I just finished ordering 100 eggrolls and 60 springrolls for the party. Thanks James for bringing some liquid refreshments. If anybody else can help with drinks, that would be much appreciated.

I cleaned the front glass and primed all the fishes for their grand unveiling! Just like I taught you ladies... Single file...one at a time!

Looking forward to the meeting tomorrow at 3pm everyone! Remember, all guests get a free prize just for showing up, not to mention the usual door prizes that are given away. And Nikos Reef will have a frag tank setup with goodies as well as anyone who would like to bring frags to sell or give away to new members. Cheers!

What! I guess my 8' tank has been forgotten over the years! I got tenure here lol. I used to come down to the meetings from Killeen a few years back but was stationed in the dirt.... away from grass and salt both lol.

  2. I'm in el Paso bro sorry. I'm actually relieved to see him doing well. I saw bluezoo was selling juveniles about the same size (3/4") which is good because they got them past the hard phase for you and you know they aren't wild.

  3. So I was cleaning the glass in my 34g and low and behold here is another cuttlefish! These guys are a little more resiliant than I though! Don't gain hope though guys, I still remain with my premise that the are hard to rear. This has to be because the tank is well established with no other occupants. I was going to catch him but he disappeared before I got my shot glass...

  4. I haven't got clusters yet. I pay 8$ each and they have always hatched. I'm sure they weed out the bad ones however. This guy seems to have survived off amphipods and micro stars. This is just a fluke in my opinion. You definitely want a well established culture of mysid in your tank before you attempt these guys.

  5. I get them from a lfs here in El Paso. I moved lol, should probably update that. They also pop up on bluezoo WYSIWYG but are seasonal so you have to catch them around now til 2 months back. The trick is the food. They are live mysid primarily which is where the money comes in if you don't have a culture of them in advance.

  6. I have a tank that has been up for several months just recovering from a dino massacre. I lost a bunch of ricordia and a few frogspawn. Remarkably through all this misery I was redoing the rock work this past Monday (to make the wife happy) and low and behold there was a cuttlefish that was a heck of a survivor! I had 2 when I had placed the tank in back out and chalked them up as a loss. The little fella is now coming up on bout an inch. I relocated him to a 15g tall that has been up and running for a few months almost empty save some Tonga and macro and lava shrimp. A few of my prego mollies have been added in hopes of them popping out some free food for him to boot. Some of lifes greatest gifts come from the worst scenarios. I'm glad he made it.

  7. Well I'm bringing the light back slowly. There is still a layer of brown on the sand bed that grows and dies at night. I don't think that's dino though. I lost my Monti cap and the galaxy Frag looks like poo.

  8. I'm El Paso. It gets to 100° nearly every day here. With no installation in my garage my 55g grow tank regularly is 85°. Not to say that's acceptable for a DT by any means but just to give you another idea of your temperature boundaries. I keep breeding mollies, Peps, macro, live rock, and one vicious coral beauty has been on lock down for the last week for attempted murder. I normally wouldn't put any true saltwater fish out there. I say insulate and do a fan vent.

  9. Looks nice, I got a free piece of dragons breath of a lfs a few months back. One 2" piece has since grown into 3 balls about that size in 3 months placed just under the water surface. It's almost completely lining the back of my tank now. Place it high near flow man.

  10. Well that makes sense. I was dosing trace elements, mag/iodine and started 2 part when it kicked up. Plus running mh 15 hours daily (yes I know that's overkill critics). Everything was growing like crazy til now. I'll try adding additional flow to, read that helps.

  11. Hmmm, I might do a tank break down. I need to research this more. I''ve never run into this crap before. It hasn't spread past the sand bed but I'm not willing to wait and see.

You didn't have coral in the tank for that 7 day blackout did you?

  12. I try to keep my calcium at 550, 500 isn't low its just not optimal. Not doing carbon yet just blackouts and peroxide dosing. I'll add carbon soon, also does the uv sterilization help fight this?

  13. I'm in the middle of a dino algae battle and my sand sifting star and emerald crab turned up dead? Water quality is perfect with cal a little low around 500 but acceptable. Also I had a two fire fish disappear less than 5 days after I got them but that's an unrelated factor. Any advice on why my inverts are kicking it?

  14. I got every thing I needed at academy sports. licence, nets, and 5g buckets with built in bubler. Got a crap load of molly miller blennies right off the rocks all night in the jetties off port aransas. thing to watch is temp aclimation. our buckets had to have been 90+ degrees from the car and I almost started to drip acclimate until I put my hand in the water. I still lost some just from the temp swing in the house. All were alive when we got home to.

  15. Picked this up from a local pet store here in el paso. Listed as a "Plate Coral" I think it went like this "hey its flat right? like a plate" anyhow I'm thinking some kind of brain. Don't think its a favia.
