  1. After my nem did the powerhead tango with my MP40 I immediately put the foam filters on them. Luckily I did because several weeks after it healed it released itself and the current sucked it in tentacle first. I guess it was just the water flow that held it against the filter. Got it free and it was fine. I don't see any difference with the filter on it unless I forget to clean it and it gets real gunky.

Yeah, I was going to get some filters when I put her back in the tank..... but I didn't mean for her to get back in the tank yet.

  2. I'll take one when I get home tonight.

Whats left of the foot is still hanging out of the mp10.

I didn't have time to mess with it this morning, so I just turned it off.

Honestly I didn't even look at the tank yesterday, so it may have been in there all day long to be as shredded as it is.

  3. MP10 ROUND 2!

    MP10 WINS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I accidentally knocked one of the clips off of the breeder net a day or two ago so the top was about 1/2" underwater. Didn't think anything about it, also didn't see where the pin to hold the clip fell in the tank.

Yeah, so last night she crawled out of breeder net and into the powerhead again.

    Not coming back this time.

    I suck at this.

  4. Do you have any Ivy Kisses or Blue Orgasms left?

    PM'd

Is the red Monti really that undesirable? This one has some decent color to it, and is a fast grower. Hard to kill.

The blue Ridge coral is awesome as well, I just don't need 2 specimens.

    $10 for the superman rhodactis.

  5. So, I was looking back through some pictures and found a pic of what I thought was a tiny Majano anemone on a frag plug.....

    post-1199-0-75760300-1377983047_thumb.jp

I got this plug of zoas from Lamont when he was shutting down one of his tanks. I noticed a very small Majano on the plug, but decided to let it live. I mean if it was a Majano as long as I had it on the plug, what could go wrong?

    18 months later....

    TORCH CORAL!

Not sure how it ended up planting a single tiny polyp on this frag plug in his tank, but I'm glad I didn't decide to kill the "Majano" as I saw it.

  6. No.

    Giant nem is gone.

This was the clone I kept.

    Still 7"+ disc.

It looked pretty decent this morning, still stuck in the wet side of the mp10 though. I'm letting it crawl out on its own. I cut the koralia on the other one, but I'm not messing with an mp10.

After feeding an anemone to both a koralia and an mp10, I think the koralia chews it up much worse.

  7. REVIVING MY OWN OLD THREAD!

    MP10 VS RBTA!

At some point I might learn.

    Not this week.

    post-1199-0-62140600-1377865234_thumb.jp

    Fun part is....

I turned off the MP-10 with the vortech's controller and was leaving the RBTA in the powerhead until I finished the water change so I could put her in a breeder net to heal.

Well.... all my pumps are on one power strip, so when I turned back on the skimmer/fuge and other circulation pumps after I was done with the WC, the MP10 came back on and chewed her up a little more.

I figured since it was off when I turned the power strip off, it would remain off.

    Oooops.

  8. I didn't think of the daisy chain issue. Post what you end up with after switching. Do you have any very high wattage pumps? Also, do you by chance have a kill a watt meter so you can test your running amperage? You have to test current in-line, so it's difficult to do safely with a multimeter on a normal circuit. It's on a controller that would tell as well.

When you daisy chain power strips or even use extremely long or low quality extension cords you end up with higher current because the circuits have more internal resistance, through more wire or through the connections between components such as one plug into the outlet of the next power strip. Since the resistance of the wire or the power strips is going to precede the pumps in the tank, everything in the tank will run at a higher current than it normally would.

When speaking of inductance, the voltage being induced is mathematically related to the rate of change in magnetic flux. In an AC circuit if you have more current, the rate of change is higher than on low load circuits with the same voltage. This could definitely increase the induced current in the tank, although it still seems that it would be less than what you all are reading.

  9. Enjoy Germany, Austria, Norway, and Amsterdam?

    I doubt it.

    Happy Birthday Brothernothermother!

I'll try to keep your tank alive while you're gone. Don't worry about any MaxiMini Carpet sale threads you see.

  10. I would watch the tank closely for the first week or so.

When I first put my reactor online with the HC GFO I stripped the tank of all phosphates and almost crashed it.

I slowly noticed my LPS getting lighter in color, and things just didnt look as happy as they should.

Took a sample up to RCA to have my water tested and on the ultra low phosphate test I was like 1 notch from 0. I don't remember the exact reading.

Went home, dumped a bunch of food in, and turned off the reactor for a week. Everything started looking good again. Used 1/4 the gfo and slowly ramped up.

There is such a thing as too little phosphates in our tanks.
