  1. Regardless of how many times it happens, everytime I wake up and see a molt half sticking out of my powerhead, I freak out thinking my K4 just claimed my cleaner shrimp!
  2. Accidently broke my frogspawn colony in half. Be on the look out for half of it being put up for sale. I bet there's 28 heads on each piece.

  3. Thanks for the feed back - but you're really not helping me quell my impulse urges! Really though - the mouth on the lion fish is only 1/2 inch around? That doesn't seem too bad... Brook - Will - what kind of fish do you have with your dwarf lionfish?
  4. Hey guys/gals, I have a 90 gallon, mixed reef tank. I have several smaller inhabitants in the tank - royal gramma, perc clowns, mandarin goby, various hermits + snails. I've been eying up the fuzzy dwarf lionfish and would love to have him as an addition - however what's the chance you think he'd make afternoon snacks of all my other fish? I'm pretty sure I know this answer to this - but I figure I'd ask around to see if anyone had any successful experiences having a dwarf lion in anything but a predator tank. I'm doing my best to fight the impulse urges - RCA has them on their list for their first friday of the month sale. Impulse urges + SW tanks are no good! Thanks!
  5. Came home from Vegas to find my AC is out and my tank is at 86 degrees. Not good - skimmer is off and floating some ice.

Hopefully you had cash left after Vegas for the AC repairs :) 86 isn't too bad.. hopefully you didn't loose much.

they are escape artist. Probably won't be the last time and be happy he wasn't on the ground.

  7. Is irritated. Skimmer just died. And I was hoping to not have to spend money on my tank for awhile...

  8. BUMP! - Still Available. Will part with for 180.00
  9. Any mine are 150w as well.
  10. I have a bunch of MH bulbs I am no longer using (and I believe a bunch is 4-5 or something like that). I'm not sure which are still good or not, but you are welcome to them. I'm by the arboretum - send me a PM if you wanted to swing by. I have hockey tonight so wont be around - but my roomate should be - or you're welcome to come by tomorrow.
  11. They need replacing - but all fire.
  12. I'll just add that I don't think Harlequin shrimp eat brittle starfish.
  13. For Sale: My 36" Nova Extreme 6x39w t5 light fixture. Will include: --Legs to mount onto the tank --Ceiling mounting kit --Spare bulbs that I have (got them from the previous owner - not sure if they are good) Fixture is like new - and works great! I bought the same model - only in 48" - again for my tank! 200.00 Thanks for looking!
  14. Ha, if I could catch mine that's in my tank you could have him. =) But he's really quick!
  15. I have a million of them in my live rock. Really I don't see how it's possible to erradicate them. I used to have your same point of view - they are ugly and I want them out. However, I've come to terms with the brittle star fish. They are filter cleaners and are actually good for your tank's health...so I just use that as an excuse for them not being some attractive.
  16. Saw the green mandarin eat some blood worms! I'm relived - he had a bit of a starved looked when I got him from the LFS - hope this helps that.

  17. These guys are pretty slow growers huh?
  18. My one Acan isn't looking to good..and I don't know why.

If u can, feed them at night.High flow areas makes them stay retracted..see if they're in high flow..might help. Personally mysis has better nutrional value than brine.

I'll try some spot feeding tonight. They are in a relatively low flow area, but I could find even lower yet in my tank. Thanks guys.

Phosphates are setting very near zero.

  19. Happy Birthday to the nicest person in this hobby!

  23. Wow sorry to hear about the disaster with the red slime remover. Honestly, I just got done dosing my tank and I was about to come here and sing it's praises off the highest mountain tops. Me and the roomate had tried everything to natually fix it. We'd siphon away the sheets of Cyano, we tried 3 days of blackout but it just came right back. We always do frequent water changes (~25%) but nothing really got rid of it all. Water parameters were always good - it just seemed to have a foothold in the tank and it wouldn't let go. And then Saturday we dosed with some red slime treatment and it knocked it all out. It just all dissapeared in 24 hours - it was amazing. Monday we did the 20% water change, and everything so far has been great. Water is nice and clear, and after 48 hours our microbubbles from the treatment have stopped. I guess with any chemical - there's always a risk of some adverse effects. Just wanted to share my experience with it.
  24. Happy the red slime remover completely knocked out my Cyano issue.
