  1. I'll just add that I don't think Harlequin shrimp eat brittle starfish.
  2. I have a million of them in my live rock. Really I don't see how it's possible to erradicate them. I used to have your same point of view - they are ugly and I want them out. However, I've come to terms with the brittle star fish. They are filter cleaners and are actually good for your tank's health...so I just use that as an excuse for them not being some attractive.
  3. Saw the green mandarin eat some blood worms! I'm relived - he had a bit of a starved looked when I got him from the LFS - hope this helps that.

  4. My one Acan isn't looking to good..and I don't know why.

If u can, feed them at night.High flow areas makes them stay retracted..see if they're in high flow..might help. Personally mysis has better nutrional value than brine.

I'll try some spot feeding tonight. They are in a relatively low flow area, but I could find even lower yet in my tank. Thanks guys.

Phosphates are setting very near zero.

  5. drank too much beer last night, and is feeling it this morning at work.

  6. Wow sorry to hear about the disaster with the red slime remover. Honestly, I just got done dosing my tank and I was about to come here and sing it's praises off the highest mountain tops. Me and the roomate had tried everything to natually fix it. We'd siphon away the sheets of Cyano, we tried 3 days of blackout but it just came right back. We always do frequent water changes (~25%) but nothing really got rid of it all. Water parameters were always good - it just seemed to have a foothold in the tank and it wouldn't let go. And then Saturday we dosed with some red slime treatment and it knocked it all out. It just all dissapeared in 24 hours - it was amazing. Monday we did the 20% water change, and everything so far has been great. Water is nice and clear, and after 48 hours our microbubbles from the treatment have stopped. I guess with any chemical - there's always a risk of some adverse effects. Just wanted to share my experience with it.
  7. Happy the red slime remover completely knocked out my Cyano issue.

  8. Still in an apartment, and I'm already dreading the day I have to move that 90g....
  9. A 36" 6 bulb Nova Extreme t5ho fixture. Its a 48" tank, so the 36" fixture will be just temporary until the pocket books recovers. To be honest, I got the fixture when I bought the tank, so I'm a bit unsure of the color temp on the lights.
  10. Hey guys, I guess this is the point where you know you 'never coming back'. I just upgraded for my first time from a 75g to a 90g, and I fear the day where the 90g wont be enough! In any case, to the subject of the article - I just wanted to show some pics post-migration. I was new to the hobby in September so this has been the progress that me and the roommate made in 8 months. Enjoy! New Fish Tank!
  11. Personally, I'd want anything named "Mega Man"...
  12. No joke? -- Clowns can change sexes? Thats actually kind of cool - I never knew that! So, I should get one big ole clown, and a smaller one then huh? -- Good to know, I was thinking I'd have to both get them small and let them grow together. Thanks guys,
  13. Hey guys and gals, My name is Greg, and I'm pretty new to the salt water aquarium scene. I've been trolling the forums for a long while (most the trade / sell forums to get this tank going!) but haven't really done a whole lot of posting. However, I have to say I really enjoy the community here at ARC! I have a 75g tank, with about 100lbs (or 115ish) of LR, with about a 2 - 2 1/2 inch sugar sand bed. I have one huge specimen of frogspawn coral (about 11 heads of it!) -- and a big ol' coral, which was sold to me as hammer coral (about 8 heads) but I have my doubts if it really is a hammer coral or some kind of torch coral. I also have a good colony of GSP, and some other little button polyps. 2 Green Chromis (sorry 'lefty' - who was my 3rd Chromis - that you had to be the way I found out my huge Green Emerald Crab had a huge Green Emerald Appetite), and 1 very small yellow tang. But to the question! I really want to add 2 clownfish to my set up but I don't think this will come any time soon, as I'm letting my tank catch up to the recent bio-load additions. However, I would really like to add 1 Black & White Ocellaris Clown, and then one standard False Perc Ocellaris Clown. In some reading, I found that the black & white ocellaris can coexhist with other clowns, but I wanted to see if anyone had any luck doing my above scenerio? Additionally, should I make sure to get two females? Or a Male / Female combination? Is there any precautions or special acclimation steps that I should in order to make sure I don't have Fish Fight Club when I introduce them to my tank? Just looking for some expert input! Thanks, Greg
