  1. I'm using the AQ jr and love it! One complaint: The temperature probe is near impossible to get a replacement for.
  2. Sounds like bloat or a swim bladder problem. Not a whole lot you could have done unfortuntely.
  3. The borate alkalinity problem in Seachem has supposedly been corrected but it affected everyone not just calcium reactor users. It DID hurt the calcium reactor guys much worse as their alkalinity came down much slower.
  4. The store will be at Burnett and 183 (real creative right?) but we won't be open to the public for a couple more months. I'll give you a few teasers though... -Our waiting area has a great couch and we'll encourage you to check out products or watch TV. -All water will be made with an RO/DI system identical to one that a normal hobbyist could buy. Mine will just be really really big. DI top-off will sell for .20 a gallon and we'll use tropic marin salt for our saltwater. -Three live rock vats will be incorporated; one initial curing vat, 2 final curing vats. The final vats will be skimmed with an over-sized Deltec and lit with metal halides. Juts say no to gray live rock. -Two huge coral tanks will be lit with lumenarc pendants with metal halides. -We're still designing the fish system but one thing I can assure you... I love to feed new fish so the fish system has that in mind. I want your fish to go home fat! The order should be in early next week and if ya'll want you can stop by and pick it up at the store to see what we have planned. Always love more input.
  5. This order has already gone out but we'll be doing this on a weekly basis once a get everything for the store in order... We were delayed shortly when I discovered that the spiders we were painting near were BROWN RECLUSES! Needless to say, we're both fine and the store is clean several gallons of poison later. I'm just glad we didn't have fish in the store yet!
  6. Those fish do look absurdly fat at times or it could even be a swim bladder problem. If it is a problem with the fish, there is really nothing you can do. Just keep watching it. John
  7. Lords generally are much fleshier in appearance and have large single polyp mouths.
  8. Yeah I'm pretty sure it's yardright sand now. Another really good way of determining if it's the right stuff is if it says "NOT FOR USE IN AQUARIUMS". Caribsea struck some kind of deal to make them right that on the bags.
  9. OK cool, I'll order a couple of them. I've got one built into my unit and they really do come in handy.
  10. So an inline dual TDS meter?

Reefing and Texas football are two different things! Welcome to ARC! PS: Aggies can cook brisket... just not play football
  12. Anyone need anything Marine Depot carries? I can get all of their items and match the price with no shipping costs. I'll have a large order going out this Thursday. John
  13. Ok i have a question for you guys... if one of you can find a way to get a pallet of southdown to Austin, I'll bring it in. That's the challenge!
  14. That first clam was by far my favorite.
  15. Melev's coral death doesn't look like it was caused by any kind of algae, the algae looks like the final result.
  16. That Gigas is still very much alive and growing. He's referring to 3 teardrop maxima's he lost a while back that were truly one of a kind. I really don't think I'll ever see maximas as beautiful as the ones clint had.
  17. Holy god that's alot of pyramid snails. That cannot feel good for the clam.
  18. That sounds much more like it Jim. A vermellid (sp?) worm could be the culprit.
  19. Judith, Make sure you get that pin out of the tank eventually as even stainless steel can rust over time in saltwater. I'd wait for the leather to attach then slowly remove the pin. Great method! John
  20. I've never heard of boring algae before, please do post a picture.
  21. I've been too busy to attempt them. Eventually I do want to modify my current reflector but I don't see it in my near future. John
  22. Thanks again to Joe and I had a great time with all of you. These meetings seem to be getting better and better with every experience! Thanks to everyone who came out! John
  23. Brian builds wonderful sumps and I'll be at the meeting a complete noob as well. I know that acrylic is plastic but other than that, I know that you don't have to feed it or test it for phosphates
