  1. Nice tank. I'm probably 6 months out from pulling the trigger to start. Not sure if new is a must have yet.
  2. Hi y'all! I'm a former reef addict and member of ARC who had a 90g mixed reef tank, but had to get out of the hobby 5 years ago. Anyways, life is opening up again and I'm itching to get back in the reef hobby, but in a more scaled down version. I would like to try a bio / nano cube sized AIO and keep zoas, shrooms, anemone, pair of clowns and some blennies, and maybe an acan and/or clam. I look forward to re-learning from y'all and getting back in to the hobby. Mitch
  3. All, I'm deferring to Ty in regard to collecting funds etc. TY Ty! Ty, btw, i'll assume you don't need me to maintain a list of peeps in the OP. If you do, lmk.
  4. Awesome guys! I'm hijacking the first post and keeping a list of those who wish to contribute to the gift. Please continue to reply to this thread if you are interested in contributing. I believe Tim is Vietnamese (please correct me if i'm wrong). Anyone know what would be considered a traditional Vietnamese condolence gift? A quick Google search says no gift, but a card, meals, and the like. Another suggestion was a charitable donation. Please advise if someone knows better.
  5. Would anyone be interested in chipping in for something for his family? Tim obviously was part of our ARC family, and I think it would be nice for us, eg ARC, to send our group condolences to his family.
  6. I'm very sad to hear this. Tim was such a good guy. RIP. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk
  7. I used to get my CO2 tank refilled @ Airgas on N Lamar, but they don't do it onsite any more. Last year I used AAA Fire & Safety and they seemed fine ($15 for 5lb tank). I know there's Austin Home Brew ($3/lb), but if I remember correctly people complained that they weren't so particular about filling the tank to it's max. Fish Gallery is supposed to, but they currently aren't (not set up yet is my guess). Anyways, I just wanted to solicit peeps' most recent preferences and experiences. TIA
  8. I have an AquaC Remora w/ MJ1200 + skimmer box - $75.
  9. Uh, neither do i... it'll be a learning experience i'm sure
  10. Hmmm, i'm sure we'll figure something out Fyi, I found this cool 3D printing service where you can even have your idea made in stainless steel: http://www.shapeways.com/
  11. Well, I pulled the trigger! Now I just gotta wait
  12. yeah, i'm completely ignorant of 3D rendering programs. they do have a demo of the software package they will be distributing ( http://pirate3d.com/demo/ ). they will also be able to accept designs from other 3D applications (from FAQ): Can I use my own 3D Design software and then upload to the cloud or do I have to use Smart Objects? You can use any 3D design software and upload to the cloud, don't worry! My initial motivation for getting the 3D printer is to be able make a needle pinwheel for my skimmer (using an Eheim 1250 pump) as I will no longer be able to buy it domestically (though I just bought a stockpile of them from ATB's US distributor who is shutting down operation). I don't believe it would be complicated to design/render.
  13. We should get it for the Club!
