  1. Just a couple more critters, some rock and some sand and I am converting to freshwater. Come and get your rock!

  2. Come to think of it. I also have a cucumber i would be willing to rent out. He is getting hungry in my tank with no cyano on the sand lately
  3. I have found a clip to be really helpful to keep it from sliding out. BTW, if anyone is thinking about this, after getting one I think this should be considered an essential part of reefing.
  4. I've been using it for over a year and really like it for my filter feeders. I drop it in the water that i mix the rest of the filter food in and it works great. The Gorgonian loves it. The sponges too. Same with the SPS. Zoos seem to go more for the cyclops or chopped up shrimps.
  5. I actually have an extra blenny that doesnt get enough algae in my system after eating it all if you would like him. I'd be willing to sell for a good price.
  6. I like them for night viewing. Need to install in my current canopy. I don't personally think that they really do anything for the corals except for allow you to see what the critters do at night.

    cool culerpa

I'll take a chunk. i have a lot of well lit fuge space to keep it going for you.
  8. Socks can be a great physical filter. I like them much better than a sponge for thier ease of cleaning and swapping out. Also 100% filtration along with good bubble reduction by putting them in the flow directly coming from your tank into the sump. Negatives... Change them out every 2-3 days and throw them in the wash inside out. Does not seem all that bad.
  9. If either the Dendro or the Black Sun fall through i will take either.
  10. Kinda. KH = Hardness of water. Also, do you ever dose Iodine? GSP, like Xenia, needs iodine to move properly. You should be getting enough in water changes but if its been a while between water changes it might be a culprit.
  11. On the pods issue I did a lot of research on how a pod could get from the refugium to the display tank. Evidently, these are really tough little guys. Also, in the microscopic level the "shear force" of the pump just does not apply to these guys. Kinda like when a small bug drops out of a tree. Even though it can't fly, it doesn't really get hurt. Larger amphipods might get torn up in a pump but that just makes for minced fish food.
  12. If you need a cup of sand I have some very biodiverse sand i'm willing to trade for a cup of dry sand. I'm over near braker and lamar. feem free to send me a PM.
  13. It sounds like you are on the right path. When i am "Max Dosing" i worry alot about the PH swings though. The only suggestion that I would have would be to take your top off water for the day and divide it in half. Then put the supplements seperately into each half. You can then drip them one at a time with an upside down 20oz water bottle with a hole poked through the cap. This will let the supplement go into your water over time instead of all at once. Note: I do not do this for my daily addition. Just when I'm trying to boost my CA levels.
  14. I would be very wary of putting in found rocks into my tank. You do not know thye local pollution levels or the makeup of the rock. It could have heavy minerals, Iron, copper or other metals just as part of the rock. You will also run into an issue that because it is not calcium based it will have a unknown effect on the PH in your system. Coming from Galveston it is certianly not reef rock (non calcium based.) The waters in the gulf are not known for being the cleanest and most pollutant free on earth so the rock would have picked up some pollutants almost assuradly. If you are just in love with the rocks i would treat them like you do newly created arrogoncrete. Boil it first. Let it dry in the sun. Then soak it in fresh water for a month to 6 depending on how paranoid you are. Change the water every few days. If you use hose water then soak it in a strong anti-cloramine solution for a week.
