shawn reef tank
Need some help please. I have a 115 gal reeftank with tangs, clowns & anemone, SPS & polyps, maximus clam. Just did a 20 gal water change. Salt level in the tank was 1.03 which was just slightly higher than the 1.025 I ususally run so I took my 20 gals down ever so slightly. Did the change & filled up my ATO with RO water. But the ATO gizmo went bizerk and emptied all of the 3 gallons of RO into the sump. Overall tank salinity went down to about 1.025. My zenia, polyps, clam & SPS all closed up. Corals are sliming. 3 hrs later the zenia look think & stragley. My frog span is contracted, the anemoney isn't happy. Clam still almost closed. Could that salinity swing be such an issue. What should I do. Thanks, Shawn
doktorstick
My guess is yes. Either because of salinty, pH, or temperature. My orchid dottyback has been fighting for her life after I did a water change from 1.022 to 1.025+ in a short period of time. Or that's what I think the cause was. muddybluewater
Yes, that is a big change in SG. I would agree that temperature also had a big part in it. I would leave it alone now. Any damage has been done. That large of a change should have been done over several days.
