Dhayden
Any idea why my Chaeto would be turning? I notice that once in a while. I got it in a converted AC Fuge. Its lighted 24/7 cause I thought it was going asexual when reverse period. It has an 14watt cf over it, daylight i think.
Headless_donkey
Is it super close to the light? I have an AC fuge also. My light is on the top. Some of the macro will change color when it is full and close to the light. I thought cheato was pretty good about not going sexual, but I could be wrong. We have had some there types of macro turn sexual, but never cheato.
caferacermike
What if it's cyano bacteria growing in it?
GKarshens
Could also be cotton candy algae. Cheato should not go sexual.
caferacermike
I like the sound of that. What is cotton candy algae?
GKarshens
It is a red fuzzy algae that I have seen grow in Cheato. I hear it is difficult to get rid of.
caferacermike
Pics or links? And it isn't cyano? I'm very interested to know more.

Kingfish
Thats def. Cotton candy, do not let it get into the main tank at all cost. Even though yellow tangs and some turbos eat it.
caferacermike
Thanks for the pics. I looked on Yahoo all afternoon and could not find anything. I have a few tiny 1/2" patches of it and just figured it was cyano. So I might need to get a turbo snail? They get so large...
