LeroyB
I need a pump to get water from my sump to my display tank and some circulating fans. I'm open to any suggestions on the pump as well. At this point, I want something inexpensive that'll get my water up to my display tank. Thanks!
+mcallahan
give us an idea of your setup...how many gallons is your display tank? Gallons for the sump? Is your tank reef ready, or does it have an external overflow box?
LeroyB
The display tank is 58g and the sump/refugium is 25gallons.
Robb in Austin
I think there was a thread on this just recently. Look under reefkeeping forum. Edit: sorry, it was on RC. Mag 7 or 9, Eheim 1260 get the most votes. For the fans issue, see here: http://www.austinreefclub.com/index.php?showtopic=6365

Cant help on the fans issue. Spend the extra $ and get the Eheim. They run cooler. For circulating fans, (aka powerheads), for a 58g, assuming you are doing the normal spread of softies, LPS, some SPS, I'd get Koralia #2 and a #1, or if you have more SPS, I'd get 2x #2. +mcallahan
Oh, or just get a Tunze Nano wavebox and a Koralia #1 and be done with it! You'll love the wave!

Robb in Austin
For circulating fans, (aka powerheads), I read the original as cooling fans. Question though, if the Mags run so hot, would you need or use a heater much?
+mcallahan
I read the original as cooling fans. Question though, if the Mags run so hot, would you need or use a heater much? I don't use a heater at all. A couple of weekends ago I had to pull my sump to re-engineer it so my tank was just a tank w/ 3 powerheads in it w/ no heater. Temp dropped to 74 from 80 overnight. So if you don't think your return pump/skimmer/reactor pump is creating heat, you're crazy.
chrisfowler99
I read the original as cooling fans. Question though, if the Mags run so hot, would you need or use a heater much? With a Mag 9 I was heating up to 82-83. When I switched to the Eheim 1262 it just touches 80. We keep our house cool at night I have my heater set at 78...I don't know if it ever kicked on with the Mag 9. It kicks on a few times with the Eheim.
