Brooks
I noticed today when I checked my Salinity, that it had dropped significantly from 1.025 to 1.022-1.023. Any good way to get it up? What some water (1/2g-1g) with a high salinity and pouring that into the display? Also, if anyone some premade saltwater or if anyone has some extra salt laying around I'd love to get it from you. Thanks! -Brooks
fishypets
Are you using a swing arm or refractometer? I'd double check before adding more salt to your system. It will be okay for the night, but I'd check it tomorrow with a different swing arm or with a refractometer.
Brooks
I've been using two different swing arms and both are giving the same result.
+Dena
Doesn't matter how many you use, just about all of them are inaccurate. If you don't have the "fancy" kind (doesn't mean expensive) then I would bring it to an LFS to check it. Ours ended up being very high with two different swing arms also. Brooks
Well I'd hope it would be higher than what I have it at. Thanks guys! -Brooks
+mcallahan
Spend the $40 and get a refractometer. Can't be beat. Swing arms are junk IMO.

Paul
Also, that isn't all that low, especially if the tank is warm. Don't panic. Rjohn
Brooks, I have about half a bag of Coralife Scientific Grade Marine Salt you can have if you need it. It'd make about 25 gallons I think.
Brooks
Thanks, Ric! I'm going to RCA today to have it tested for a definite, accurate reading. I'd love to get it from you if they say it's too low! Thanks a bunch! -Brooks
fishypets
Did you make it by RCA? What's the verdict Dr. Brooks?
Brooks
Not today, unfortunately. Someone stopped by to take a look at the house; lots of cleaning. :\

+Daniel
Not going to try the low salinity thing anymore? I guess it wasn't helping your corals afterall?
Brooks
1.025 is considered to be low.
