KaceyJ
I woke to find my puffer like this. It looks as if his skin is being rubbed off or something. I watch this guy everyday, and it suddenly looks like this,
KaceyJ
Please help! I care more about this little guy than I do anything else in my tanks. He is my little buddy. It looks as if the skin over his beak is getting thin Edited April 29, 2009 by KaceyJ
prof
Is he poking or chewing on something?
Rjohn
Is there something on his nose? In the first pic, you can kinda see his scale outlined. Is he still eating?
KaceyJ
It just happened over night. The only thing he could be chewing on is rocks. The powerhead shows no sign of damage from his teeth. I inspect all the rockwork, and nothing has fallen. He is still eating, and acting just as he always does. swims to the glass, eats food from my hand. today he ate a krill and a clam on a half shell. barderer
maybe he just got a chunk ripped out of him or had a bad encounter with a piece of hardware. As long as he keeps eating and his behavior doesn't change I wouldn't worry about it. If you want to be safe I would put him in QT.
ejaustin
I don't know anything, but on-line I read that it might be good to give puffers a couple days of darkness when they seem to be sick or injured. The darkness makes them feel more hidden, less vulnerable, while they heal. Dunno if that's helpful. Hope he comes through okay. ej

innate1
How's your Puffer? Thank you again for the group buy and keeping my critters for me. I hope your fish gets better.
KaceyJ
He is still acting fine. I will look tonight to see if his spot is getting color. I hope so, cause I have to pick up my blue ribbon eel today.
KaceyJ
H.R. is getting color back on his beak. There is still a rough spot in the middle but I think he is absolutely fine. Thank you all for your concern, words and support.
