txcane
Hey guys, I have a new tank and am looking for a method to assess salinity. I've heard the floatie things are pretty unreliable and instead am looking into a refractometer. I've checked into buying a used one from Amazon, but figured I'd also look around here to see if anyone is looking to offload one. Alternatively, anyone know where I can buy a used one for little dough (gotta save that for the livestock)? Thanks all,

+ACampbell
Does anyone own the lighted refractometer from that ebay store? Is it up to par? I have been wanting to get a lighted one for some time.
caferacermike
Just as an FYI, certain "floatie things" are the true scientific method for assessing specific gravity. There are debates as to whether refractometers are accurate with sea water. However some of the floating hydrometers are scientifically accurate. It's the swing hydrometers that are junk.
