Reef Swimmer Posted September 22, 2015 Share Posted September 22, 2015 I'm looking/thinking about getting equipment together for my 40 breeder. I only have a protein skimmer which is a SSA ES5. I'm planning on getting AI hydros or vegas, and Ecotech mp10's. I'm not sure what return pump I will need or anything else. This is my second tank first one was a bust. jolt Posted September 22, 2015 Share Posted September 22, 2015 That skimmer should be fine. I ran one very similar on my 32 gallon. I use an eheim 2000 return pump (528 gallons per hour). Quiet and very reliable. it should give you about 8-10x turnover through your sump depending on head. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
