Beretta
I saw this light on Marine Depot, and I think it might be good for my proposed 29G sps tank. The tank is at Binswanger's right now being drilled, so it's time to get serious about lighting. I had looked at the Current SunPod, but I looked at the ceiling in my office, and it looks like I'll be able to hang a pendant between the rails for the acoustic tile. Would this be a good light? It seems I should be able to hang it slightly higher above the tank, thus minimizing heat, and increasing the spread of the light to the edges of the tank. Thoughts please. Headless_donkey
250W is a ton of light for a 29G! I am absolutely not going to say it is "too much," but I think a 150W would serve you just fine. BTW an auto top off is going to be 100% necessary. Especially over the weekends.
Entropy
I agree with James. That is a lot of light for a 29g. What do you plan to keep in it?
Beretta
I already have an auto top-off, and I'm planning on doing a lot of sps. I've looked on reef central and other sites, and the 29g tanks that have heavy sps loads all use 250w lights.

Entropy
I am thinking some kind of chiller might come into play in an office environment to keep the temps from swinging all over the place.
Beretta
Fortunately, our a/c stays on all the time, since there are a ton of computers in our building. However, I plan to run the lights for a very short period on the weekend should something happen to the a/c.
Entropy
Nice! The temp here at work bounces from 72-78 randomly.
