Sherita
I'm just in the beginning stages, but I'm going to try to document thebuild on my 90g column tank. This tank is specifically for my wrasses, and I haven't given it a real name yet.....Best Little Wrassehouse inTexas? A Little Piece of Wrasse? Kiss My Wrasse? I'm still working onthat part of it Ok, tank specs. Obviously, it's a custom tank.I picked it up used and cleaned it up. It has been water tested (andpassed just fine), and I've removed the overflow and resealed it, thenwater tested again (still passed just fine). Tank dimensions are 26"w x23"d x 36"t. This tank is going in my bedroom, in a corner right next tomy bed. So, I've painted two sides black: My new 2 3/8" glass bit should be here tomorrow, so that I can drill outthe return hole to accept a 1 1/2" bulkhead. Return is a 1" line that Iwill split two ways at the top of the overflow. Additional flow will beprovided by two WP25. Since I personally think that Aromatic Red Cedaris one of the sexiest and most beautiful (affordable) raw woodsavailable today, the stand will be skinned in Aromatic Red Cedar that Ihave hand picked for grain and color, as well as character. I will doall the routing, fitting, and joining to turn the 4" boards into panelsto cover the stand. I will use the same wood to build a custom canopywith an inset for screen tops, and it will lift and lock into place foreasy maintenance. Easy being subjective. The stand will be 36" tall, thetank is 36" tall. Include the canopy and we are over 7'. I'm tall, butI'm not THAT tall. I can foresee some amusing incidents as I try to workin this tank and keep it clean. My arms aren't 36" long, and the sandbed is going to be a loooonnnnggg way down there.Light will be provided by a Reefbreeder Value 120w full spectrum LED fixture. Therewill be a sump and refugium in the stand. I will build the sump after Ihave the stand built, so that I can make sure my sizes match up. I willbe running a skimmer of some sort, but I haven't figured that part outyet.Inhabitants of this tank will be:Scopas TangGolden SoapfishPsych MandarinCleaner WrasseLong Nose HawkfishRed Coris WrasseYellow Coris WrasseTimor Fairy WrasseTwin Spot WrasseFalse Christmas WrasseGreen Grass WrasseTiger Tail cucumberPink UrchinTuxedo UrchinCorals will be:Various zoasLeathers/toadstoolsA few LPS for movement, most likely torches or hammers.I'm building the rockwork right now. I want lots of swim throughs and openareas for the wrasses to cruise through. I also want minimal rockwork onthe sandbed, since all of these wrasses need a sandbed to feelcomfortable. And obviously, a deeper sand bed is necessary for thecomfort of the fishes. Cleanup crews will need to be replaced routinelyin this tank, since wrasses are pretty hard on snails and crabs. This build will be going slow. It takes two people to handle that tank. It'sheavy, and awkward. Updates will probably be sporadic, since we arerapidly approaching the beginning of hunting season, and it's finallycooled off enough for me to head to the coast with the boat
bige
That's a nice tank. How many do you have now?
Sherita
That one will be #9, but technically only #8, because I'm taking a tank down when this one goes up. Yeah, that sounds MUCH better
