Kiss My Wrasse, 90g build

I'm just in the beginning stages, but I'm going to try to document the
build on my 90g column tank. This tank is specifically for my wrasses,
and I haven't given it a real name yet.....Best Little Wrassehouse in
Texas? A Little Piece of Wrasse? Kiss My Wrasse? I'm still working on
that part of it :)

Ok, tank specs. Obviously, it's a custom tank.
I picked it up used and cleaned it up. It has been water tested (and
passed just fine), and I've removed the overflow and resealed it, then
water tested again (still passed just fine). Tank dimensions are 26"w x
23"d x 36"t. This tank is going in my bedroom, in a corner right next to
my bed. So, I've painted two sides black:

My new 2 3/8" glass bit should be here tomorrow, so that I can drill out
the return hole to accept a 1 1/2" bulkhead. Return is a 1" line that I
will split two ways at the top of the overflow. Additional flow will be
provided by two WP25. Since I personally think that Aromatic Red Cedar
is one of the sexiest and most beautiful (affordable) raw woods
available today, the stand will be skinned in Aromatic Red Cedar that I
have hand picked for grain and color, as well as character. I will do
all the routing, fitting, and joining to turn the 4" boards into panels
to cover the stand. I will use the same wood to build a custom canopy
with an inset for screen tops, and it will lift and lock into place for
easy maintenance. Easy being subjective. The stand will be 36" tall, the
tank is 36" tall. Include the canopy and we are over 7'. I'm tall, but
I'm not THAT tall. I can foresee some amusing incidents as I try to work
in this tank and keep it clean. My arms aren't 36" long, and the sand
bed is going to be a loooonnnnggg way down there.

Light will be provided by a Reefbreeder Value 120w full spectrum LED fixture. There
will be a sump and refugium in the stand. I will build the sump after I
have the stand built, so that I can make sure my sizes match up. I will
be running a skimmer of some sort, but I haven't figured that part out
yet.

Inhabitants of this tank will be:

Scopas Tang
Golden Soapfish
Psych Mandarin
Cleaner Wrasse
Long Nose Hawkfish
Red Coris Wrasse
Yellow Coris Wrasse
Timor Fairy Wrasse
Twin Spot Wrasse
False Christmas Wrasse
Green Grass Wrasse
Tiger Tail cucumber
Pink Urchin
Tuxedo Urchin

Corals will be:
Various zoas
Leathers/toadstools
A few LPS for movement, most likely torches or hammers.

I'm building the rockwork right now. I want lots of swim throughs and open
areas for the wrasses to cruise through. I also want minimal rockwork on
the sandbed, since all of these wrasses need a sandbed to feel
comfortable. And obviously, a deeper sand bed is necessary for the
comfort of the fishes. Cleanup crews will need to be replaced routinely
in this tank, since wrasses are pretty hard on snails and crabs.

This build will be going slow. It takes two people to handle that tank. It's
heavy, and awkward. Updates will probably be sporadic, since we are
rapidly approaching the beginning of hunting season, and it's finally
cooled off enough for me to head to the coast with the boat :)

That one will be #9, but technically only #8, because I'm taking a tank down when this one goes up.

Yeah, that sounds MUCH better tongue.png

Whew, I'm more sane than I thought ;)

Can't wait to see this. Very unique tank dimensions, and stocking. Going to be a really colorful tank.
