bige
I had this tank set up and decided to redo it with a sump. So I drilled it and have a roughly 16 gallon sump. All in two (AIT). Since the glassholes.com over flow stuck out a bit I used pond foam to fill it in. Then pressed crushed coral into it. I really like how it turned out.
Here is the sump.

The return pipe then painted black.

bige
I'm a little curious about the pond foam. I'm going to let it run fresh water for a while and test the water. Then do the same with saltwater. I've used this stuff with ponds and never had a problem.

bige
So test fitted PVC and ran water for a day. Noticed some leakage. I guess I was drunk when I glued these. Cause the return was not glued. And barely leaked. Not bad for just being pushed together. .
The manifold works perfectly. I had one design in my head then read something bio wrote. And changed my plan. And it works better than expected. So thank you bio for helping me. I've just been running fw to see if any phoshates leach out. And so far 0. Been testing a lot with Hanna checker and still 0. So I will start sw soon.
bige
And the hoses are on the down pipes because it was too much on the over flow to have full blast mag 7. It gurgled like crazy. Turned on those down pipes and the gurgle stopped.
bige
So I made the tank salty and tested phosphates. Tested .05 so I took out the saltwater and added fw back. See if will leach some phosphates in the fw. It didn't before.
