Demodiki
I just wired in a new ballast. When I plug th elights in they come on for a second then go out. If I unplug and put it back in...the same. I can't remember what this means. Any thoughts?
FarmerTy
Incomplete circuit I believe. Last time that happened to me, it was a bulb that was burnt out. Confused me at first because all the bulbs were new... kept thinking for sure it was the ballast. If you have old bulbs that you know work, I would test it out on them. -Ty
Demodiki
Hmmm...actually only one light was coming on then going off. Now, none of the lights are coming on. Does the power cord matter? 18 vs 16 AWG?
(Bio)³
depending on the run of the wire it could matter but I doubt it in this situation. You can google wire size calculator to see if it siszed right
Demodiki
Aha! I figured it out. One or more of the endcaps is bad! That sucks but yea!
new55galSALT
I was just about to say incomplete circut check endcaps plastic tombstone ones are known to be faulty goodthing you figured it out though electronic ballasts require a complete circut to "fire-up" and sometimes even if the bulb is "new" doesn't mean some one didnt damage the internals by dropping it .... ive bought bad new bulbs before
